you did not provide the details of trying to track the air tag. You only provided the finished results, not showing the screen on tracking. I have done all the above you mentioned, but not able to see the car on the map when tracking.

With a knife, you can remove the AirTag speaker. There are several videos on KZbin showing how to do it.

You forgot to mention that if your car / bike etc is stolen by someone with an iPhone not paired with that tag, after a while the tag will alert the none paired phone that they are being tracked All part of tracking laws.

I didn’t get the part when you said it is best to leave it near your doors so if someone else with an iphone is passing by your car they can track the tag? So anyone can track your tag so long as they have an iphone or have I misunderstood what she said? I thought it is linked to an apple id and only that person can track the tag? She also said at the end of the video that the way it is tracked is affected depending on how many iphones are nearby to it? Can someone elaborate?

It used their phone to ping it’s location to you without them knowing or being affected. Only problem is if you car is stolen and an AirTag is with a unknown iPhone for a period it will send that phone a notification sayin an airtag has been detected traveling with you. So if someone steals your car and have an iPhone they will know your tracking them. They can then set the AirTag to play a sound, find it and disable it or turn their phone to aeroplane mode and continue to drive while you loose the signal until it connects to another iPhone.

Two things: Disable beeper inside AirTag so no one else might perchance find it (there are KZbin videos showing how) and AirTag will only be able to “transmit” if blue tooth device is near.

@@yanike Apple added an anti stalking feature to the AirTags. The criminal will get a notification if he has an iPhone that an AirTag from someone else if following him. He can activate the sound in order to find the tag.

I don't have an iPhone, but I do have an iPad. It appears that the tag and my iPad have to have access to wifi to work. Is that correct? I couldn't find my tag unless I was on my wifi.

Correct. The way it works is the air tag uses Bluetooth. So it has about a 50-80ft range. It pulses it's Bluetooth beacon every few minutes to conserve power. Any participating iPhone or iPad in range to pick it up will report its location back to Apple's servers, which then report the location back to you on your apple device. So the conditions that need to be met, are that you have to be connected to the internet, and somebody with an iPad or iPhone that is opted into the air tag network must be within 50-80ft of the air tags current location at the exact moment it's Bluetooth beacon pulses. If there is nobody in range of it, then it just shows it's last known location. So if it is on the move, it won't be where it shows until it gets picked up again.

As part of anti illegal tracking laws apple has incorporated a system within the tag, that if it has been in contact with an iPhone not paired to it, for some time, then it will alert that iPhone it is being tracked, thus allowing the thief's iPhone to activate the sounder finding the tag and disposing of it. If it is intended to use the tag solely for theft tracking, then the tag has to be dismantled and the magnet removed, preventing the tag sounding.

@@rainofrest7778 yes, but I removed the speaker for this reason. Just pry the AirTag apart and remove the speaker. It’s just held in by a bit of glue. Put it back together and you have yourself a stealthy AirTag ;)

cant really decide which tag is good for far distance tracking because for close spots there are tons of options but for kms away spots you need a tag sending you signals of the location and so far I see it is only apple air tag and samsung tag because they connect through other people's phones and send you the location and they have no subscription fees. there are other tags but the problem is thay only send you location if other people use those apps in their phones. Thats what I see in conclusion

If the air tag can be located via beeping sounds then this will not work as vehicle tracking if stolen. most criminals will send a beep to locate the tags in the vehicle unless this air tag will only beep to a phone it is paired with. I'm sure there will be a hack anyone's iphone can pair to any air tag.

Answered the questions I had about ordering them. I just got 4 from Amazon for almost $90 bucks ! I have a Dodge Durango & a dog that I would hate to be stolen ! Also a set of keys and wallet lol…well taken care of vehicle btw , also a very beautiful woman !…I wish you would’ve tried finding it without the owners phone though.

I’m looking into it because someone stole the keys from my vehicle. As of now, they can open the door with my old keys but can’t start the car. I was thinking of getting one in case they came back and hot wired the car or something. That is unfortunate that it alerts them that there’s an AirTag

Yes they can, after a time if the tag senses there is the same iPhone in its vicinity for some time, that is not paired to it, then it will notify that phone that there is a tag tracking it, the would be thief is then able to make the tag play its sounder, find it, and dispose of it.
