The Swing Caddie SC4 is both a complete simulator and portable launch monitor. For use both indoors and outdoors, the SC4 delivers professional grade swing and ball flight metrics. Still waiting for a camera based unit, one the doesn’t need to be5 ft behind the ball and without the mlm 2 subscription fees. Still holding out for Garmin to bring out such a unit.

Anything behind the ball is a Doppler radar unit. Some of them have cameras but a true camera unit sits in front of the golfer like a skytrak or skytrak+

There was only really 2 that I was following. E6 and Trackman. Unfortunately was hard to put them both on the screen as I can’t get the screen recording

Not bad. The SC4 is quite accurate considering the price. And for all clubs. Yes, it isn't a great computer simulator for playing practice rounds but overall it makes much more sense over the expensive 20K+ simulators. Those only make sense when you are a high level amateur or pro who needs that wedge to be accurate to the yard

Nice video mate! Wouldn't it be great to know the actual measured data until the ball hits the screen before the algorithm kicks in! We don't want to be paying an extra 30K for an algorithm right? Outdoors its trackman everyday! But indoors how much does the algorithm contribute to the result when comparing devices? You would think that even the cheap devices get the actual available data up to 3 meters away!

Yeah well the Trackman 4 does have a camera as well as Doppler radar. I’m not going to pretend I know the full details of it but basically it’s super accurate even indoors which is why a lot of the spin numbers weren’t italicised as the Trackman was measuring them. So that’s really encouraging that the sc4 was able to get as close as it did

Seems spin rate is still a bit off with the SC4. With the carry numbers and others generally much closer. Any ideas why?

Not 100% sure. I thought maybe the screen could be effecting it but it shouldn’t being a radar unit. I’d love to see them incorporate the RCT balls and that would solve the differences for sure. But remember that Trackman also could be off as I’m just using a standard premium ball so even that spin rate is relying on an algorithm I’m pretty sure.

I saw a comment that said it doesn't do shot shaping? So you are unable to practice cuts, fades, draws? Any Launch monitors in that price range that does?

No it doesn’t do shot shaping but it does have launch direction

The one thing I have to mention for anyone who is looking at the SC4 is that Swing Caddie's customer support is horrible. They released another firmware update a couple weeks ago that renders the practice mode all but useless due to a radical increase in swing speed and decrease in ball speed and smash factor. I've reached out twice to them and the response is basically a brush off. The fact that they release firmware updates with what seems like no beta testing or explanation is very frustrating. The unit is still helpful in the SWG speed training mode but had I known how terrible their support was I never would have bought this. There's just no excuse for this subpar level of support.

How do you have the unit setup? I don’t have an issue with mine. Is yours 5 feet behind the ball level with the mat?

Absolutely set up exactly as I've had it set up over 100 times since purchase. My numbers prior to the update were darn near identical with Trackman 109ss/160bs/1.47 smash/efficiency. After the update they're 113/150/1.35. The spin also jumped by about 500rpm. I jumped on Trackman with the SC4 set up as well and the SC4 was dead wrong. Not sure why your unit is fine after the most recent update so hopefully it's not my actual unit. I'm in the USA but can't imagine that would matter unless it's an Imperial vs Metric issue? Regardless, Swing Caddie has offered no answer and no assistance. That's a horrible way to do business

Thanks! Are you doing the firmware updates? You're probably aware but you have to be Bluetooth connected to their app via phone or tablet with the unit on or connect the unit to a computer to keep the firmware updated

Sc4 doesn't measure spin axis so it doesn't really know if you are slicing or hooking. That is the problem with a lot of these cheaper units. You don't want a lot of practice thinking you are doing one thing only to get to the course and the ball flight is a shocker to what is really happening.

@@davidmaxfieldgolf That would be great I'm genuinely interested to find out what 45k gets you compared to the GC3/BLP (the same unit bar colour) or others under 8k, if you have the time that would be Awesome. I put our 25K Trackman behind my Mevo+ and there was no difference to ball data, there is no need for me to have club data because I know exactly what type of shot I've hit just by feel, that comes with hitting 200+ balls a day over 3 years, also I moan about the odd miss read/no read with lobs to 4 yards or below with the mevo and I have worked out how to get the mevo to read putts 7mph and above, but I found the Trackman has these issues too. 25k V £1600 would love the 2 companies to get together and talk about this 🤣(never going to happen).
