Nations Forever is super nostalgic ngl. It is absolutely buried on Steam now but you can find it if you search for it. I used to play this game all the time when I was younger. I made stupidly hard (some just stupid in general) and made my brother and mates play them and I'd play my brother's too. It was simple but fun. I also challenged myself to get gold medals on all the set tracks. The new game is a pretty faithful remake tbh, hopefully it will give other kids as much fun as Nations Forever gave me.

Good video, but why omit the best aspect of the game, which is multiplayer? It's where the creativity of track builders and competitiveness of racers merge, and it can be an incredible experience.

I've seen the complaint about the number of tracks in the campaign several times now, and I think it is a pretty unfair one. When you pay the 10 bucks for a year, at the end of that year you will have received a total of 100 tracks, and you get to keep them after your subscription expires. At least that's what I understood, but I agree that communication isn't Nadeo's strength. The real problem about the subscription is that its worth will really be proven only when Nadeo adds another environment. In TrackMania 2, we'd have to buy the environment separately for like 20 bucks and the community would be split. With the subscription system, everyone is on the same game. But with one environment, I guess it's normal that people aren't sure that the subscription is worth it.

It’s even more. With the free version, you get the tracks of each season, which are 25 each, and you can play selected campaigns online as well. That’s quite decent content for no money. When you subscribe, you additionally get the “Track of the day” for 365 days, and you get to keep all of those as well. And you get the campaigns mentioned in the video, which are user-generated and curated content and will be added to every now and then, so you really get an incredible number of tracks for the 10 bucks a year, which seems quite fair to me.

You pay the 10 and get the 100 seasonal tracks of that year, tracks of the day as well as unlock all previous seasons and tracks of the day too. If you don't renew the sub you still get to keep all that unlocked content so in a way it _is_ a one time purchase. You mainly pay for the community features which Nadeo needs money to run. You can think of it like this: pay 10€ for the whole game with all content released so far and if you want you can buy a yearly season pass for another 10. Or 30€ if you want the club features. Either way it's far from predatory as there's no microtransactions in the game, you get all the content for that small amount of money. 10 or 30 euros a year for at the moment 250 campaign tracks, 3 years worth of daily tracks, continued support, full community features and new tracks rolling in quarterly, all of which you keep even if you just pay once. Sounds like a much better deal than anything EA/Activision/Ubisoft comes out with their full priced yearly franchises and expensive season passes that include mtx on top 🤷🏼‍♀️

Here we are, 3 years later, and there are still no new environments. I was hoping for Canyon/Canyon-like cars, physics and tracks possibly, with a lot of drifting capability. I'm not giving any money for a subscription until that happens. The developers supposedly said that it would be too hard and too much of an effort to add that to the game at this point, but I feel like that's just an excuse for being lazy.

You've got trackmania nations forever on low settings thats why your car isnt detailled launch trackmania settings then go to advance settings with the first menu you can put everything to max then you can go to the game menu and look for a "car" setting put it to max and youll get your detailled car

I don't get why everyone is saying the graphics are bad, honestly for me that's one of the most appealing parts of it compared to TMNF. Between that and the new variety of track types and pad types (no steering, reset, turbo boost, reactor boost, etc.) The only con I can really think of to this game is the fact that it wants to try and make back some money for the undoubtedly thousands of hours that were poured into it. While I personally disagree with a subscription model on principal, it makes a lot more sense when you think about it. $10 for a whole year vs $60 up front even if you only play it for one year anyway? Or in the case of the premium tier, $60 gets you 3 years, and do you really think you'll be playing it and it will continue to receive new content from nadeo in 3 years time?

From all the aspects of TM 2020, the one that i felt that could be just like Nations is the car customization and the whole social of the game open for free. Sadly it's behind the club thing... That makes the free to play feel like a demo from the game

Regarding graphics, it looks like your TMNF footage is done on low quality settings: the car looks much better when you set the car details to Medium or High. For some reason that's under "Game" in the settings menu of the launcher and not "Graphics", which is quite baffling but I guess otherwise the Graphics menu would be too busy?

@@TheBetaNetwork I was still scouting out the game because i only found out recently that a new TM exists and it seems like there is only 1 type of car but it still looks very cool. So it may change my mind :) The one on the Wii is very cool! If i remember correctly you had this Formel 1 car, a Lamborgini (or something like that), a desert car, a truck, a ralley car and 1 more i cant remember. Each one has different handling and speed. ;)

Ahhh, I see! Yeah, the 2020 version does have its flaws, but I'd say it's definitely worth a look for TM fans! :) The Wii version sounds a lot more interesting, as well as the fact that it has more than one car! Hahaha! Might have to give it a try now 🔥

@@TheBetaNetwork yep, i looked extensively all over the internet, the only work around i discovered myself was since there is a local coop option, you can use radmin vpn to create a local network via internet and play together, but i'm guess it'll lag a little

As I understand it, you need to have standard access so you can join any server you want. If you find an empty server, you can use that. If you want more control, at least one person has to pay for club access, which is 30 bucks a year, to create a new server, which the others can then join.

I don't think NF will ever shut down (at least in the near future), because of the masive player base. After you dwnload it from steam, you will need a additional file to run on win10. Search it on google and a post from steam should pop up with a file that you download and move in the game files.

I think the new TM is the disappointment of the year for me. The car models are pretty good but other things are bad. Here is why: 1-I don't see any "water" in the game. Water makes the TM very good, on high speeds you can bounce on it and it looks good. I love water, so it is maybe the biggest bullshit in the game. 2- Graphics look like they made out of plastic. 3- I don't like the new mechanics, they feel like I'm driving a remote-controlled car. 4- Ice enviroment almost unplayable, If someone loves to play hard then maybe he/she likes it. But for me it ruins the joy of the game. I'm gonna stick with the TM Stadium. Already deleted this new TM. Sorry man, ubisoft ruined the damn series.

Yes, I am a subscrubber. And you are spitting real facts, the driving in nations forever is alot smoother than most other trackmania games, but TM: Turbo is what brought the franchise to life, 4 environments and 4 cars to drive, I got hooked to the gameplay when I first played the game. TM: turbo was the TM series at it's prime

Hey Marko, you get a few basic training tracks, which is around 25-30 tracks and that's pretty much it! Definitely worth a shot, but Nations Forever is definitely better as a free game! - Dillon

@@TheBetaNetwork it's more because of the graphics, the soundtrack, the 2008 version was quite simple and limitative but offers a lot of possibilities without being repetitive. Despite all the loopings, jumps, the stadium mode as it was in 2008 really looked like a formula 1 game. Playing with my friends for hours was so cool

And isn't there an advanced version of the track builder in the 2008 game as well? This seems like you played both games for a day and dumped the script in like 10 minutes

You can but just reset. While you could spend like 10 minutes building up enough speed to bounce off some piece of geometry and get back to the track there's really no point unless you're doing some kind of challenge

Yeah, that's 100% understandable. The latest TrackManias seem to have a different feel to them and that can really change up how the game comes across overall. I could imagine it would be pretty difficult to look past that issue, if I'm being completely honest. So it probably is best to stick with the classics (Nations Forever 😁).
