Another great video on something I'll need to do in the near future. I'll probably add some protection to the back wall or I would be pushing my forks or the grapple tines through the sheet metal when trying to reattach them.

Yeah, I need to do that

I second that. Pallet forks will go through sheet metal like it wasn't even there. Any old 1x6, fence picket or similar as a kick panel to the back of the shelf would give adequate warning. One wrong move at the end of a rough day would make it even rougher.

Nice work! I was thinking of building a lean-to with this sort of stacked storage, so this helps a lot. I think I would add some sort of center post, since that seems like a lot of weight stretched across what looks to be 16 feet. Well done video! Moved along quickly, while still explaining each step and easy to see what was happening.

I like it. I have a similar size tractor with 3 front and 3 rear attachments. My shed is smaller, so shelves are needed. I was going to build only 1 shelf, but 3 looks better. Thanks!

This Has been a huge improvement to quickly switch attachments and keep my equipment organized and out of the weather Since these trackers Don’t lift that high you have to build the shelves just the right size for your implements to be able to reach a third row, but it does work

This is exactly what I've been planning to do for quite a while! Maybe I'll get on with it now that you have inspired me! BTW, it bothered me a bit that the 2nd shelf rocked a bit when you loaded it - perhaps you ought to put some angled braces running up from the posts to the front of the 2nd shelf?

Hey Rockhill - your best video yet! I didn't realize you had so many attachments. Great John Deere customer! I love that you're getting them all in out of the weather, and the shelving system you made is outstanding. You're right, what you need is always at the back when everything is on one level. This is perfect. Great job! What is the music you used? I love it.

I would build a stop wall on the rear where your forks are going. One day you will kick yourself for accidentally punching through your back wall. You could screw down a wooden pallet to be your stop and also help with the forks not tipping back towards you.

I just bought a scaffold from Harbor Freight a couple weeks ago and built a lower shelf on it to store implements. So it can easily accommodate 2 implements per scaffold. Going to buy a 2nd scaffold and do the same thing which will give me space for 4 implements, and since the scaffolds are on wheels I can roll them around out of the way and roll them out for easier access to swap out implements...rather than trying to build a solid system like you did, I decided to go with the scaffold idea due to space issues and not 100% sure yet where their permanent place will be in the shop....I think once that happens though I'll build a similar shelving system like you did where I can just drive up pickup the implement I need with the pallet forks, get it on the ground and hook up and go.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 3 жыл бұрын
I have the same scaffolds that I use in my main shop. Great value but I just don’t use them for attachments because my equipment shed is on a hill Since this video was made I’ve done a lot of additions to this equipment shed. I’ve built custom pallets for all my three-point attachments and those set on shelving as well I even have a custom Backhoe hauler

@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 4 жыл бұрын
The top shelf is 72 or 73 inches high So that you can still reach it but you have plenty of room underneath for two layers of implements I don’t know how high it is at the back wall but 3 feet away from the wall it is 10 feet high. I used four by fours 10 foot long and they were touching the tin roof I take my implements on and off of this shelf system every day and it has been a game changer for my organization and keeping everything dry

Maybe I missed it, or maybe I just fast forwarded too much. You used 4x4's for the supports. Were they 2x6 or 2x8 on the shelve supports and how far was the spacing (16 inch OC)? I'm looking at building something similar that needs to be 3 implements high that includes 2 snowblowers and a belly mower. So guessing the implements weigh around 400 lbs apiece (on the high side to be safe).
