The John Deere 1025R and Heavy Hitch Toothbar make removing pea gravel from an old play ground area easy. The 1025R digs down 4 - 6 inches with the toothbar attached to the bucket on the front end loader and then hauls the dirt to the dump trailer.

Happy Easter TTWT! It is always a bit of an educated guess on what equipment set up will be the most efficient. Unfortunately it is not possible to haul every attachment in the arsenal out to every job to cover all possibilities that arise. You make your decision and do the best you can. Sometimes we do have to make the decision to back up and punt so we can regroup and get the necessary equipment on site.

I love the toothed buckets. I was able to buy five teeth with bolt on shanks for under 100 dollars off amazon. I'm a cheap sob, the tooth bar would have been easier to mount but I saved a over half the costs. Love your video's.
@spyder000069
@spyder000069 5 жыл бұрын
Half the cost but 5 times the install and removal time. Plus the toothbar supports the teeth so you don't have all the force on the edge of your bucket bending its lip. Can't blame you for trying to save a buck. Give a bar a shot next time you are in that position. :^)
@aviator97msncom
@aviator97msncom 5 жыл бұрын
@@spyder000069 I fully agree they are much easier to mount. But like I said I'm a cheap sob. As far as strength, not an issue. The bucket cutting edge is quite thick and strong. I have pushed it far beyond the machines limits without any issues, bends, or warping.
@daddio7249

@@aviator97msncom I got weld on mounts with teeth from Amazon and welded them to a piece of 2 in x .2in flat bar. I put the flat bar on top of my bucket cutting edge and tapped the tooth mounts on, perfect fit. I tacked them in place and took the bar off to finish welding. 2023 prices but still only have $230 in it. Plus it is removable. Factory bars are stouter but my JD 1023E hasn't hurt this one yet.

The additional weight might make this idea not feasible, but could you put a tooth bar on the 4in1 bucket? Since you can open the bucket and use it like a dozer blade, you would still have a smooth edge when you needed one. If you get a larger tractor later, maybe you could explore this combination on it.

Even then, a skidsteer wouldn't have worked for the same reason they didn't use the 2038r. I suspect the 1025r was about the biggest thing that would fit into the backyard. So with the exception of a stand on track loader, even if they had a track loader, it would have been too big.

Yes. Even a box blade on the back of Johnny would have made it difficult to maneuver.

From comments on the prior video, looks like THIS was the job for the 4 in 1 bucket. Seems like maybe you needed to screen the stuff so you could take just the rock. Light in the tail end? MORE CHEESEBURGERS!

I saw some of the comments about trying to dig too deep with the bucket. I have a NH Boomer 24. I know it's blue and not green but I have a serious question. Is there a risk of bending the hydraulic cylinders when digging with bucket? I have been pretty careful to keep from ruining a cylinder. When is too much too much? Love your videos!

When the cylinders are contracted (short), there is not much risk. When they are extended (dumped), there is risk. Be careful putting huge pressure on it when dumped. Check out the technique in our videos. We apply SOME pressure when it is dumped, but we try to avoid over doing it. (And the color of your tractor is not relevant for this issue. All brands/colors will have the same behavior) Does that help?

Thanks for the reply Tim. Yes it helps, good advise. I probably have been too cautious. And I'm sure you know I was kidding with the blue/green comment. Come down to Texas and visit some time.

Hey Tim, what do you think? Could I ditch a driveway if I put one of those toothbars on my 1025? I don't have a backhoe.
