I have owned this trailer for a number of years. Solid build quality. I have replaced the wood decking once. When I did I sprayed the frame with black rustoleum paint . I also added grease cups with zerk fittings to keep the bearings alive. It sits outside all the time in rain and snow uncovered. Would buy another one.

My favorite features are the 2" square tubing and the fact that you can lay the gate down into the floor. This allows you to DRASTICALLY reduce wind drag, and I would able to put both of my Hobie kayaks on it with a super simple modification.

Yes this trailer has been excellent, no regrets, for the price it’s hard to beat and they will not depreciate in value

Just bought the exact tractor supply in 5.5x10. So far so good. I have a spare that was mounted on the front and that will be moved either on the side or under the tool box on the front. Harbor freight has a great 14g box that fits perfectly. I may op for one of those. Also a front mounted winch may be added. One of the caps on the back was missing and inside the rail is a great place to store some 1/2 pvc pieces that maybe used as a dome cover for rain etc. I haven't thought that completely through. As far as the tarp on the top. On my storage, I will probably lay the gate down then tarp over the whole trailer to cover tires, front and back.

Good ideas! Ideally I get mine uder a lean-to soon. Yes this trailer still doing its job well! I beat on it a little too! But overall it’s a very handy tool to have around!
@13thSwarde2 жыл бұрын
My long term storage includes jacking the trailer up, placing jack stands behind the wheels, supporting the frame, which allows the springs to relax, taking the weight of the trailer (950 lbs.), and keeps the tires off the ground. I also completely cover my 8' x 12' trailer with a tarp, which also covers the tires.

I got the aluminum version of the same TSC 5.5' x 10' trainer last summer on sale for $2,200. It's great for taking my JD GT245 with attached 54" mower deck down to the small-engine repair folks when I need something done, also the 42" JD snow blower, and the smaller walk-behind snow blower I use for close-in in the car parking & turn around area. Get a quality trailer hitch lock, not the yellow Reese $20 job that can be defeated with a hammer. Park it in a barn or chain it to a tree. Put a couple of coats of linseed oil on the PT deck boards, and they'll look good for a long time. Probably should get a spare tire, and a tool box to carry a jack in if I'm going anywhere away from the local area.
@ScottieBMan3 жыл бұрын
What trailer lock exactly you suggest? Excellent suggestions, I’m definitely going to do linseed oil now that you mention, also spare tire no doubt, getting that this summer when I haul my quad.

None of those tiny little tires for you. They generate a lot of heat. Blow out and ruin your day. I've seen them actually flipped over on the side of the road with there destroyed ATV laying next to it. Your smart to go big on the tires. I carry 2 spares and a jack with the wrench. Great video. Thanks.

The only other suggestion is to make sure the trailer is tilted towards the rear so water runs off it. I have an older tube top trailer and it rusted from being too low in the front. Even though the tubs are capped they will still collect condensation. Drill a small hole to allow it to drain.

Had mine for >10yrs, did a house move with wee Nissan truck afterwhich it became primary hay hauler and for other oversized stuff, 12ft Corral panels, dump runs etc etc. Rated the same as yours but I see a few improvements- the beefy tubed tops/ mine only used same angle iron. Periodically I slap on Thompson's water seal. I got the handy easyon-easy off wheel thingy for the post. I try and keep the tires protected from the sun by covering with old horse feed bags. Always wondered how one would replace the wood if it rotted but so far still fine. Rough roads, bottom outs, 100 miles runs with 2000lb hay loads & still doing fine. Instead of a tarp u mite consider a 20x10 garage in a box for $99 or build a small frame with liteweight cover for it. Mine's been uncovered whole time-lo humidity here. Still on original tyres.

Great video. Is the trailer made to carry 3000 lbs or is that the GVWR? The ones that I see in tractor supply is 3000 lbs GVWR and 2000 lbs towing capacity with the 995 lbs being the weight of the trailer. I am looking at this trailer currently and wanted to be sure that there wasn’t something that I am missing.
@ScottieBMan Жыл бұрын
I can’t remember exactly but I think 3k GVWR. It would comfortably haul one ton. I’ve had 1600lbs of 4 wheelers on it…no problem at all, golf carts, tractors all fine I’ve never really loaded it up with anything that I felt it was not gonna do well.

Is it difficult to move it around by hand? Wanting to purchase one to tow behind a fifth wheel so I want something thats easy to pick up the tongue and maneuver.
@ScottieBMan2 жыл бұрын
It’s very easy to move by hand, probably about 30-40lbs lift weight at the hitch and it roll’s easily by hand, would be even easier with a small wheel at base of crank.

@@ScottieBMan Awesome! If I wasn't on a flat surface, say in a yard for example, would that make it nearly impossible then? I see the dry weight is over 900lbs according to TSC website. I haven't been able to make it over to the local TSC to check one out yet.

Spray the pressure treated wood with engine oil new or used a couple times over the summer, it will soak in and the wood will never rot. If you’re storing it long-term, just take one wheel off they won’t be taking it.

The actual flat floor inside width?
@wendygerrish49643 жыл бұрын
5ft space from inner edge of angle iron across on my vintage 2011 one. L is 10ft inside space. Width at widest point from left outer wheel to right outer wheel is about 79 inches across. So TSC carry-all trailer 5 1/2 x 10ft such as Scot's might be wider than mine.

Nissan 4 cylinder truck and 4.0 jeep wrangler (not so heavy a load when using jeep because jeeps need the weight on their front axle and they are...short) also f150 and larger trucks but it is ideall size for the wee trucks and cars, whereas a larger truck you could use a wider longer trailer. I'm so glad I hung onto this 10x5.5 one.
