Wow I’m glad I don’t have to control clover and dandelions ,they grow and the insects use them to their advantage. The less chemicals used on our property the better I like it ,but each to their own . Enjoy your videos .

Maybe a little feedback for MistrSpray... I think it might help if the parking stand posts were height adjustable, or could be flipped over to get them up out of the way, especially with the limited lift height of the 3PH on a sub-compact tractor.

I guess a few dandelions won't hurt. They'll look good in full bloom. You'll be feeding the insects and birds that eat them. Sooner or later you're gonna have to go green . A little love won't hurt.

Thanks for sharing the temp info. 190 seems high for the ambient temp (looked like a nice day!), however the hills, high RPM/High gear and PTO, with a lower ground speed and with a heavy tractor doesn't seem unreasonable. There are soo many variables to keep track of!

Expensive foamers are for field work. Get yourself some spray indicator, Tractor Supply and others have it. Wayyyy cheaper than a foamer and you know EXACTLY where the spray went! I use the blue dye for grass, just mix it in your tank and it will leave a slight color where you sprayed that lasts no more than a day or two. Great demonstration of why I can't consider a boom, I have way too many trees and obstacles and I keep planting or building more. I also use a Mix-on-Exit system so the main tank is only water and the solution tank is all the chemicals, makes cleanup and changeover easier. Downside is I have a whole spreadsheet dedicated to figuring out the mix concentrations and spray speeds and nozzles to use for each chemical. For tractor speed I use a bicycle GPS and get speed in tenths then use full pedal and RPM to hold the speed in the ballpark.

Be careful they ship it “winterized” but the antifreeze they use has no freeze protection. Shipped with mix match spray tip caps. That rear foot interferes with spray and just bending is not a fix, then all will have to be bent the same because the spray patterns overlap. I think this sprayer has potential but details need polishing.

4.5mph is 6.6 feet per second, so a 500 foot run at 4.5mph should take about a minute and a quarter, or just about 400 feet per minute, with rounding errors. Assuming that you can (unlike me) drive in a straight line, you could measure your speed via a stopwatch and not have to worry about the lack of low speed accuracy of a GPS app, since the timer should be way more both accurate and precise than is necessary for this application :)

I've measured and 110 degree spray pattern isn't what you actually get. I had to modify my sprayer to put the nozzles a bit closer together in order to get a consistent spray pattern. Consistancy to me means no heavy or light strips between the rows. Also there is a specified height that you need to be at. To test all this spray water on concrete at your chosen speed. Then go back and look at the spray pattern. Avoid pooling or dry spots. Also like in agriculture you need to use the right tips to avoid floating droplets, especially when there is wind and you have a garden or shrubs you don't want to damage. Hope this helps.

I have a 40 gallon electric pump sprayer. I don't have to worry of the pto pump rusting shut. And with electric pump, the switch is on my right fender of my Kubota. Turns on & off easily, saves fuel, and is easy to use. 10 ft boom is good for the use it gets. Plus a 25ft hose and spray wand. And better speed control without worrying about hitting things in close quarter spraying.

I agree with you. I have the same setup on a skid sprayer made by Schaben, the same brand that makes ag sprayers. About 1/4 the cost and complexity of Tim's setup. I put it on the back of my Can-Am utv and have a wire running from the electric pump to a rocker switch on my dash. I can watch the MPH on my dash. 3 MPH seems perfect, I can see the outside right and left jets in my outside rear view mirrors. So easy. Plus, with the 10 foot boom its so easy to judge your tracking by looking at your previous run's tire tracks. I could never use a setup like Tim's. Too awkward to use unless all you had to spray was football fields.

The distance from your front driveway loop to the rock at the end of the driveway is close to 475'. At 4 mph it should take you 80.9 sec to travel that distance.😃I never did see a full pass, start to finish. But on a couple passes it looked like you were close to halfway at 30 sec. Est. 5-6 mph. All the careful calculations of nozzle size, concentration, and needed speed, you'll not have the application needed to achieve desired results. Although I've had good luck at 2.5 oz per gal of 2-4-D. (your at 4.2 oz per gal) I did not recognize the second chemical you put in the tank. Was that a surfactant? Mr Spray looks nice but also$$$.

The low speed ap for your phone is called "Tractor Speed". Yes you are driving too fast and your bouncing is changing the spray pattern (narrow rows when boom is close to the ground and insufficient coverage when you are too high) and the swaying from side to side means you can't have consistent coverage and are missing spots. Height should be 18" if I remember correctly.

Get ready for a long winded comment from someone that has been doing this type of work professionally for about 30 years. 1) Rear mounted boom sprayers are the most difficult and awkward type to use on uneven ground and around obstacles. I can't even begin to count the number of nozzles I've broken, booms I've bent, fences I've torn up, ect.. My organization switched to boomless type sprayers about seven years ago for these reasons. 2) A full manual calibration is always necessary at least once per year. The charts provided by the nozzle manufacturer are only a guide line to get you in the ballpark of what you want. Over time many components of your system will wear and flow rates and ground speeds will change, a full calibration will account for those changes. 3) As for ground speed with a two speed hydro tractor I would recommend low range with the engine at rated pto speed and the hydro fully depressed. That will give you an easily repeatable and more constant ground speed when moving over uneven terrain or around obstacles. 4) For marking, most chemical suppliers offer a dye (typically blue) that can be added to the tank mix to make it easy to see where you have sprayed and where you haven't. It is also a good why to let others know that it has been sprayed and that they should stay out of the area for a while. 5) I gotta pick nits. You did really well with the PPE except you missed the long sleeve shirt. I can't throw too many stones, on hot summer days I sometimes cut that corner too. lol

And if you are doing what I think you are going too do, you can get a radar that should just plug and play that will read your ground speed. Combined with a electric pressure regulator you can really be setup for spraying. Man would that be cool!

Maybe you can put in a package of Rite Dye from the grocery store and tint the grass that you cover to see the difference. A purple would show. Or like you say a foam marker.

It’s tricky with wider booms to gauge where to drive. There’s a lot to watch and pay attention to. Did I hear a “hint” about a guidance system?? 😉 Blessings.

I feel your pain, nothing worse than getting something brand new and you damage it the first time you use it, maybe just use the center for tight spots, you'll figure it out though, good luck

I did away with my big boom and made a smaller boom and spray just over the width of my mower deck and mow and spray at the same time

good explaination of spraying and jets versus forward speed ,it's a hard concept to get through to people ,pity the pressure gague is poor in the range needed for spraying 20 t0 80 psi and definately that section control needs an upgrade to be switchable on the move . I suspect you may be thinking of satellite guidance for Johnny probably not full steering control but a screen with grid lines for you to follow ,I am looking forward to it being reviewed

You don’t look stupid! Accidents happen. I hate that you bent up your boom, but in turn that gave us subscribers some very helpful information. Seems like you have everything working again so… lesson learned. Keep up the good work.
