Many years ago, when our kids were small, I was working hard on some house repairs. One day my father stopped by with a friend. Dad's friend asked why I was working so hard. Told him I wanted to get it done. He responded "Why, it will wait for you? Enjoy time with your kids!" I changed my schedule for repairs.

I sprayed dandelions last week with my X738 and John Deere 25 gallon click-n-go mounted sprayer. This came with a 12 volt cigarette lighter plug to use in the 12 volt outlet on the fender that is controlled by a switch on the instrument panel. The sprayer uses a 12 Amp motor. After spraying 1.3 acres I noticed the plug was quite hot. I think this is the 4th year I have used this set up. I just bought a John Deere 125 pound dry spreader also with Click-n-Go brackets. It was supplied with a harness to go all the way to the battery. X738 needed an extension. I was hoping to use the 12 volt outlet on the fender but now I am having second thoughts. I have to go check motor for Amp requirements. New harness has a 15 Amp fuse, I think this is the same for 12v outlets. If the new motor is less than 15 Amps I think I will go ahead and try the existing outlet. I have seen foam used in fields for years. Even for my small area I think it would be useful. I use the X738 because it is so much more maneuverable and handles the hills better than my 2025R.

Great idea on the 30A rear electrical outlet cable Tim. I have a 100 litre rear sprayer for my 1026r and am looking to upgrade, and that cable sounds like it would make connecting up a bigger sprayer or just even a foam kit a whole lot easier. Plus, I like the idea of having a solid built in electrical power supply for other attachments,

Tim, crossbow is not labeled for lawns. When spraying turf the more water they better 15 gallons is ok but 20-25 would be better for coverage. Coverage is king when it comes to killing weeds in lawns. Also should put in a surfactant with your herbicide. Can get them with a drift control agent in them. Well worth it and makes the chemicals work better.

Tim, I appreciate the content of your videos. Although some here have stated they appreciate dandelions in their yard I spray mine every year. I am a licensed applicator. For my yard I use a 60 gallon 14' crop care sprayer. I use foam markers. GPS as some have stated sounds neat but the cost effectiveness on a compact spraying limited acres could be challenging. I have 2 boom valves however for my use it works well to idle down then disengage pto at the end of pass. I switch foam between booms while spraying otherwise my foam tank will run out before sprayer is empty. I also put down 15 gal/acre

A couple for comments. As another commenter mentioned Deutsch connectors are a good option for 12v accessories. The standard 12v SAE connector is also very common and really easy to find and work well. My other comment is on Crossbow. I learned the hard way Crossbow is persistent...for at least a couple of years. I sprayed a mulch pile that was growing some weeds with Crossbow and a couple years later put the mulch around some trees and grapevines. There was enough crossbow left in the mulch to nearly kill my trees and grapes. Lesson learned. Crossbow it awfully potent for yard weeds.

Thanks for the video. As for being able to turn the foamer on with the pump a simple pressure switch plumbed in to the pump line should do the trick. Some thing like an oil pressure switch in a car. Cut one of the power wires then connect the wire to either side of the oil pressure switch. When it sees power it will close the circuit and the foamer will work.

I just had a few things, I think the fresh water tank is also for when you are finished you need to run a quarter gallon or so of water through so your spray is cleaned out. If the products sit in the spray nozzles they may begin to gum up and then require removal and cleaning ( not difficult but when you come out to spray you want to spray not work on the sprayer) Not only is this good for the sprayer but next week someone might need fertilizer or complete vegetation killer, whatever it is just not something you want to do, that is mixing chemical even if only a small amount could be corrosive to your pump. Next we used a sprayer like the first little white one you showed and just couldn't get the results we wanted so we went back to the granulated products and it always seems to work well. The sprayer was super cool but it was surprising to me how so little wind would blow the atomized chemicals right back on me. Keep up the great work, I love the videos!

Great Video as always. Quite often I find we are on a very similar wave link so to speak. IE. I think that is the same sprayer I bought last year. However I didn't spring for the foam marker system or that extra water tank . I did get the hand held hose and that good nozzle . That hand nozzle can spray an impressive distance when you crank up the pressure . Very nice sprayer. I just use my tire tracks to gauge where I am at. It does a really nice job. I have yet to quite sort out the pressure rates and speed thing, I keep using more chemical or material then I should be. I have noticed that I have to prime boom, by cycling that hand nozzle whenever I run the tank totally dry on the boom. Curious if you noticed that too ?

Hey Tim....I live in western Ohio close to Richmond. I cringed when when I saw you spraying your lawn with Crossbow. I've used it twice and both times I noticed significant stunting of the grass. Just today I did spot spray with Crossbow hitting patches if clover in my lawn. I load my 40gal 3pt FIMCO with Crossbow and spray side ditch, fence rows, and around the edge of a wooded area.....works great in those applications. I was hoping the foaming rig you used was more cost effective...$800 is a bit salty. I rigged a foamer last year using a 12v compressor. Down side after about 30mins it will get hot and blow a fuse. Would like to find source for a better compressor. I use Dawn soap and hot water for foam. Actual foaming agent is stupidly expensive. Hoping to spray later this week.....wind wind and more wind...😊

We don’t have gps for our spraying tractor either, it would come in handy for some tasks but we get by without, especially in row crops. For open fields I use flags and pace it off at each end of the field. I can get excellent results this way, and it gets me out of the tractor seat to get at least some exercise... a foam kit would be useful in those situations.

I have run electric to the rear of my tractor. I purchased a rocker switch with custom text that says "Rear Electric" that fit the knockout in the dash for the 1025 that is intended for the electric deck lift. This keeps all the wires totally hidden and not at risk of snagging or being a tripping hazzard. This electrical connection has come in useful so many times. I am interested in the connector you are using at the rear connection point. The one I have is very basic and has no latching mechanism so it works loose from the implement at times.

Hello Tim. I enjoy all your videos. I'm a Green tea for fan myself. I just purchased online a 60 gallon tow behind sprayer from greenleaf.com. the unit is by Workhorse, but I got it $100 cheaper from them than from my local Tractor Supply! Same part number with shipping charges. I bought it thru Ruralking.com. it has a 10 ft boom. I used it on my 6 acres property. The power cord is too short as it has to reach my battery on the JD 425. So I fabricated and extension. I must do more research on spectricides and the proper dosage for 60 gallons of water. I used up 3 60 gallon tanks, but I didn't the the results I expected on the dosage I applied. May buy a 30 or 55 gallon container of concentrate next time instead numerous quarts and half gallons. Thanks for all you do. God Bless. West Michigan.

I’ve considered installing a 7-pin trailer hitch style connector, that way “universal” switches could be added by the dash and routed through the connector pins. Then they could perform different functions depending on the implement attached and how you’ve wired it. That would allow for 4 or 5 permanent switches to provide remote electrical control to implements, in addition to a standard 12V power connection.

This allows the flow to be controlled by a toggle switch mounted in a convenient location on your tractor. In addition you could leave the manual valve in place and in the “on” position. The solenoid could be mounted anywhere on the supply line between the tank and the manual valve. PS: We aren’t vendors. We enjoy a few acres and a couple of compact tractors.

I believe you can replace the on off valve with an electric shut off. Not sure of the cost, but just a thought! Hope your brother and all got there crops planted.....

How does the spraying affect your pond? Is the pond there to control ground runoff?

To stop sprayer try stop the pto. You need to have mask gloves long sleeve and rubber boots. Here in Portugal need to have a license ever 10 years you have to get new license. First time school was 35 hours. To renew was 15 more hours

Tim, for broadleaf weeds like you are spraying. Check out measotrione, (active ingredient in multiple products). I use it on the farm, mesotrione is a pre / post emergent. Application rate is 1 cup (8oz) per acre in 30 gal of water is what I use. Plus a non ionic surfactant . It’s cheaper per acre and much more effective then salt 24d. As a side note. Look for ag options to avoid mark ups for lawn applications. (Tenacity / meso4sc).
