It just keeps raining so Tractor Time with Tim decided to set up the pallet racking in the pole barn. We need floor space in order to insulate the walls so this seemed like the best organizational option at this time. This pallet racking is great for tractor attachments both large and small. It might be a great option for your shed or workshop.

I just added a 12' x 32' garage/shed to house my 1025R and as many attachments as I can wedge in. I've decided to make dollys for all the heavy attachments (56" Simco tiller, 48" box blade, & Stump Wrecker out of pairs of 30" furniture dollys and 1 x 6" boards, and use castered scaffolding that can pass over the dollys with the shelf holding the lighter attachments on "thinned" pallets or just as is. My 48" rotary cutter has 4 three-wheeled dollys and the FEL has a set of Peter's Loader Dollys. My Heavy Hitch weight bracket has it's own dolly for that and the suitcase weights and my mower deck has a vertical Heavy Hitch cart. That way I can move everything on casters to swap around for what is needed. Kind of like those puzzles with the flat tiles you slide around to solve the jumbled-up image.

Hi Tim and Christi, been there and done that. One suggestion I would make with the boards across the racking would be to fit a couple of 4x2 flat at each level of racking and screw the cross timbers to them. That way the cross timbers will stay in place rather than move around while you are moving material into and out of it's racking bays. A few of the cross timbers had already moved out of position by the closing shot. Just position the 4x2 flat under the cross boards and up tight to the racking rails, drop a couple of clamps in to secure them to the end cross boards temporarily, arrange the rest of the boards to suit, and run a couple of 3inch screws through each cross board into the 4x2. The 4x2 flat under the rack rails only occupies dead space between the rails, so doesn't impact on the storage space available or access, but locks the cross boards in place ensuring that they cannot move or drop through the rails while loading/unloading the stored goodies, particularly if you will be using the tractor/loader and forks for the job.

Hi Tim, enjoying your videos. Just bought a new 2038r and I'm learning a lot without napping through the manual! FYI you may consider using some 9/16 inch bolts through the beam into the upright. The locking pins are unreliable. Just saying, I've worked around that steel for 27 years. Forklifts often bump the beam above and knock it out of place.

They make a heavy duty wire mesh that fits the pallet rack for items which are not on a pallet. I also put a set of pallets in the middle of building. Used two which were a third of the building then connected the two with a beam high enough to walk or drive underneath. Gave a lot more storage. Great system. Cost less than 1/3 of new pallet racks.

Looks great! The only thing I was say was the outlet being blocked by the rail; it may be used but looks like the lower outlet would be difficult to use easily once stuff is stacked on it. I know its a lot of work but if the 2 tier shelf was on the other side and the 3 tier swapped.... it would allow the exact same storage and remove the ‘problem’.

It our case its a small Broderson Carydeck but johnny can easily stand up yours and assembling laying down is safer and easier. We also se bolts to hold the cross members in place on the uprights.

Wet here too: been mowing at farm last few evenings:some parts dry, some not.Had some deer keep me company for a while yesterday evening and the neighbors dog came by to see what the noise was too.Got about 4 acres mowed on some right of ways: more to do though...LOVING the cab and A/C on my new to me JD 5320.Never even broke a sweat and it was 86 when I started.

Couple of suggestions on the barn: put out rodenticide.Mice and rats love the taste of the soy based wire insulation of newer equipment. Small spare parts can be kept in file cabinet drawers: label the drawers and finding them is easy. Keep equipment manuals in vermin proof containers (or the house if it's close enough).Cheap 4 wheel furniture dollies from amazon or horrible freight are pretty handy.About 12 x 16 made of 1 x 3's and 4 swivel castors: I use mine for stacks of suitcase weights, box blades, waste oil drum, anything I move around from time to time. Drum funnel for a waste oil drum is good to have too;no mess when filling with used oil.I use oil only absorbent pads to keep drips that may occur from staining the floor. Sooner or later all equipment will get a seep or drip. Also handy when I'm servicing a tractor and have an oops. Why tractor and heavy equipment manufacturers can't locate the fuel and oil filers in a way it doesn't make a mess when changing them is a mystery to me.
