This is my favorite. Fast Cars is 2nd. Tracy played on a soap opera i watched just before these songs came out. Her character she played on the show helped get her noticed i think. Loved when she sang on the show. Always knew she would make it as a singer. Beautiful voice.

This is my second favorite Tracey Chapman my first being “Revolution” what a powerful song by a powerful woman. I have loved her music since I was 14 year old. I know there is someone in my past this song always reminds of me. I would suggest Erikah Badu as well both incredibly powerful woman with amazing song writing skills! Another singer you would love is John Mayer oh man I love to watch him play that guitar and sing songs that speak to me soul!

Tracy Chapman's "Crossroads", "Behind the Walls", and "Across the Lines". Life-changing to hear as a 7yr old mixed race girl in the midwest. It made me extremely intolerant of sexism, classism, and racism of any variety. Behind the Walls as a kid can change your views of any kind of abuse in a relationship.

One thing: As you say, "If you want Tracey you have to go get her..." But you would have a better chance if you were female. She's a brilliant songwriter. I saw her in concert once: Sydney Stadium (packed); No backing band or singers: No fancy backlighting: Just a bare stage. We could even see the brick wall at the back of the stage. Just Tracey and her guitar kept thousands of us enthralled for 2 full hours.
