Tracy is always a win. Everyone should have her music in their library, whether it's one song or several. She's that awesome. My favourites of hers besides this one are "Baby Can I Hold You" and "Give Me One Reason."

🎉Congratulations Tracy Chapman 11/8/23 🎉 Just had to point out this amazing milestone in music history. Tracy Chapman has just become the first black songwriter to win the CMA song of the year award. Tracy was able to make country music history via Luke Comb's recording of her 1988 song, "Fast Car." This song debuted 35 years ago, yall. Luke Combs covered it, and after all that time, it's still a hit. It went number 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Which makes Tracy Chapman also the first black artist to have sole songwriting credit on a number 1 country hit.

I just want to add how amazing this song was. At the 1989 Grammy Awards, this song won a Grammy for: 🌟New Artist Award 🌟Pop Female Vocalist Award for🚘 "Fast Car" and her fellow nominees for this award were: Whitney Houston - "One Moment in Time," Brenda Russell - "Get Here," Joni Mitchell - "Chalk Mark in the Rainstorm," Taylor Dayne - "Tell it To My Heart" This song was also nominated for Record of the Year, but Bobby McFerrin, "Don't Worry Be Happy," won it. But check out the competition for this award, y'all Bobby McFerrin - 🏆 Anita Baker - "Giving You the Best that I Got" Michael Jackson - "Man in the Mirror" Steve Winwood - "Roll With it" and of course Tracy Chapman - "Fast Car" Lastly, this song was nominated for Song of the Year, but Bobby McFerrin, "Don't Worry Be Happy," won this award also. Here's the other amazing talents Tracy's "Fast Car" was competing with for this award: Anita Baker - "Giving You the Best That I Got" Brenda Russell - "Piano in the Dark: Sting - "Be Still My Beating Heart"

Hey Jack, I'm thrilled that you have reacted to this! I'm really showing my age but this was the first CD that I bought, about 36 years ago, CD players had just come out!. I still have it and still listen to it. Please if you get the chance listen to 'Baby can I hold you ', its one of those really special songs that makes your head just go to that special place, you find yourself just staring at the wall, thinking. I absolutely love you and your chanel, you have introduced me to so many artists that I hadn't heard before so the ethos of the chanel works both ways for me. Ooh, I know you love Snoop, please watch the video for Doggy Dog World if you haven't already, I guarantee it'll become one of your favourites. Bless your heart Jack, you are doing a fantastic job, and keep listening to godess Sade! xxx
