Tracy, I would never expect this kind of hospitality if I stayed with my parents - usually it’s me changing my own bed and making dinner for all, but that’s about my family, not you! So, I just wanted to say, you are such an attentive Mum (from 🇬🇧 here!) and the fact that you know what your grown up child that lives in a different state likes, whether it’s the little hospitality pieces or the clothes, shoes, jewellery that she likes, it’s very impressive (even more impressive when you consider you have 5 babies!). I aspire to be so attentive when my children (5 and 7) have left home. Happy holidays. x

This is easily one of my fave video on this channel. Since Monday when it was published I've seen it more than 20 times already. So inspiring! You took hosting to another level. My parents are coming for Christmas and I'd love to prepare something like this for them. Thank you so much for your channel! I'm a silent fan, don't comment much but definitely watch a lot of your videos a few times, including Instagram Stories. Btw your recent stories about "if you don't like doing something then why bother to do it?" brilliant! I cannot express enough how much that motivated me to just get up and do stuff, be productive. I always have a cabinet in guests rooms that include new and unpackaged hygiene products and accessories so that the tops of dressers are kept clear for anything they may have need to sit something down. This cabinet will also contain things like heating pads, hot water bottle, epsom salt, a pan to soak their feet in, over the counter remedies for stomach problems or headaches, medicated foot powder, lotion, bath bombs, facial scrubs, first aid kit, wrinkle releaser, spot remover and such. I make homemade scrubs and bath bombs, but also makeup remover using a small jar with cotton rounds, no tear baby shampoo and a little water. We have a small dorm type refrigerator in our guest rooms that are enclosed in a cabinet with glassware too. It's on top of that cabinet where fresh snacks are placed on a tray. Each powder room has a hair dryer and three sizes of curling irons (bought that way), bath robes and packaged slippers. When guests from other countries visit I always have a photo frame with emergency numbers and direct dialing codes printed out and next to the phones throughout the house. When picking up guests from the airport, always begin to point out places of possible interest when getting close to home. Usually after they've had a good night's rest from travel, let them drive as you show them where places they want to know of are and always provide a map. It's just a matter of courtesy. I say do better unto others than you would have them do unto you. Others say I run a ten star hotel for my guests. But I'm okay with that.

I try to provide bottled water, etc, in a small refrigerator in the room , and I put a small Kuerig coffeemaker in the room with cups, etc. That way, they can have coffee whenever they choose, and I do the same thing,...chocolates ! Or something sweet . . I really liked the idea of the wifi password, put into a frame , I read that in one of the comments. :) What an amazing hostess you are !!

This video is great Tracy! Something that is hard to find is if you are the guest and someone is hosting you what things should you keep in mind? Do you strip the bed before you leave? Do you wipe down the bathroom they allowed you to use? Also, what are ideas for a nice host gift for an overnight stay is there a price range that is nice to keep in mind especially if you don't know those who are hosting you? No one wants to be on the list of "horror stories" I can't believe some of the things I have read :( A lot of what not to do but, how can we avoid being on the "Don't host them" list.
@TracyHensel2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Katrina. I would say ALWAYS clean up the bathroom and wipe down the counters and sinks. I do that at my own home on a daily basis and wouldn't think to do anything different at a guest home. As for the bedding, I make my bed every day at home or as a guest in someone else's home. I would still make my bed and clean up the bedroom the day I leave. I may ask the host if they would like me to strip the bedding and put my dirty towels somewhere, just as a courtesy. A good gift would be a gift card to a local dining establishment. Do your homework ahead of your trip to find highly rated establishments. Ordering fresh flowers from a local flower shop and having them scheduled for delivery later in the day on the day you leave is also a nice token of thanks. Good Luck
