"I'm sorry you should not be working on your own vehicle" classic line. Great video. I had to tell someone something like that today. They want me to come.fix their vehicle for free. I tried telling them I don't work for free and how did you diagnose it? They said the parts store told me that's what it was. I said well have them fix it. I get tired of that. But like I said .great video. I didn't even know we can get park brake assembly for those. Good to know.

The most impressive thing about this video to me is that the dealership sent it through the shop to be checked out and fixed. There are so many complaints of people buying used cars and trucks and the dealer says they do a 100 point check, but in fact all they did was a detail. Kudos to your dealership.

Haha that happened to me, customer put the wrong caliper on his 4Runner and was wondering why it wasn’t breaking well. Anyway I called the parts house to get the right caliper and it was the passenger side in the box. The box was returned from another shop and it wasn’t noted that it was the wrong part. Just returned and put back.

This video reminds me of the Ford "vanity" license plate with the lightbulb and caption "Ford Has A Better Idea". A pre-loaded parking brake assembly is just what is needed in the rust belt. Ford also thought to provide a convenient access point for adjustment. I remember Eric O remarking once about an inaccessible parking brake adjustment on a particular make of vehicle when he was removing brake rotors.

I went thru this on my 11 6.2 All ford parts,cables ,etc. They sold it as an 'as is trade in' real cheap. I wish I knew about that assembly. It is not expensive. I ended up reconditioning what was there. You still have to pull the axles though. You have no choice b/c the activation latches are missing. I replaced both cables. The passenger was frozen, broken, like yours, driver, marginal. I am telling you though the actuator latch mechanism that the cable attaches to will rust and seize. I wirewheeled and painted the old ones and coated with molly brake grease. I went nuts and also replaced all the rubber lines. Had to heat the flare nuts and turn the lines. One of them locked up a caliper, made a smoke show. Not really expensive if you DIY.

Hey Rich, would you mind making a video dedicated to the oil filter brands you have found that are known to have the "thread end" bypass valves famously found on the motorcraft oil filters? I know Wix XP used to have thread end bypass but I think they discontinued that. Whipcity has opened some Royal purple oil filters with thread end bypass, but they are less impressive in their micron rating than excellent oil filters like the Fram Ultra or the Purolator boss and are nearly a $20 filter. (I switched over to Fram Ultra Synthetic after watching you and Whipcity's videos.) Your oil filter videos have saved me hundreds of dollars in Auto parts. It's getting harder to find motorcraft oil filters for a reasonable price due to the shortages but I prefer motorcraft when I can't find premium oil filters instock to purchase since they are more high quality than most filters in their price range and due to being purolator, have also kept my engine quite clean(according to Blackstone labs) Thanks again Rich.

@jamesophel63432 жыл бұрын
Chris, look at the latest video on running an engine with rubber piston rings. It tends to confirm my suspicion that car makers are happy to use engine oil is seen as a valid fuel instead of petrol or diesel. Leaks can be kept in or hidden, stinks and smoke can be controlled with conventional pollution control gear as they are supposed to be now and the official fuel consumption figures look good because the engine would now use less fuel because it is burning lubricant instead of official fuel . The engine won't care as long as it burns and makes heat and the makers achieve the mandated consumption figurus which makes the regulators happy. I think this is worth loking into. The Russians never seemed to mind a bit of smoke and smell but after the fuel shocks the the Americans took fuel useage and pollution very seriously in some places with some weird work arounds to address some of the issues. This could explain some of the very complex fuel and emission systems in existence out there now. I suspect a large amount of money could be saved by going back to sound, basic engineering practice. Let me know what you think. I think you have my return address and I will skim the comments to see if you or anybody else has something to say on the subject. It might be fun to watch.

Won't pass inspection NY. They really check the brake holds when you hit the gas. These mechanisms are very prone to rust. Probably has to be serviced every 3 years or so to keep it working well. @@alb12345672 I didn't say New York, we don't have inspections in most of the Midwest, and it's expensive to replace the entire system and cables every few years. When it's not used by the owner, it gets removed as rust weight reduction.
@alb123456722 жыл бұрын
@@RJ_Cormac Agreed. Even if you use it has wear and tear. Cables stretch, shoes get rusty, need labor, etc. It stops holding. It is worth something I guess if brakes totally fail, not very likely today but not impossible. Some systems have them integrated into the rear calipers.

Thank you
@FordBossMe2 жыл бұрын
Albert I've been doing this long enough if I make a decision on not replacing axle seals it's the decision of me not replacing the axle seals 99.9% of the time you're wrong that is not the weak link they are just fine there's not a lot of pressure on them there's not a lot of heat on them as long as the axle shaft itself doesn't have a bunch of rusting and scoring there's no reason to replace them

I wish I could find a "clear" video of someone removing an axle. I mean I saw the pin and the spider gears but not the actual removal process. To someone who's done it before it's probably obvious but to someone who hasn't you're left scratching your head.
@FordBossMe Жыл бұрын
Bro it's not that complicated you pull the back cover off the differential You spin the axles around until the pink can slide out easily once the pin slides out you can pull the C Clips off of the end of the axle so you just push the axles in a little bit the clip pulls right out and then you can slide the axles out but before you slide the axles out you get to take the rotors and everything off it ain't that complicated

Does that sound like your sales department? “Dundee Ford in Duendee IL. The guys name is Michael Medina he’s the gm.” “When I placed my order reservation last year I spoke on the phone and in person with the manager there and he assured me that he wouldn’t do any MARKUPS on my bronco if I ordered through them. (He wasn’t going to play those bullshit games other dealers were playing on bronco order holders). Would not give me a contract agreement because he said the dealer wasn’t doing them. After I repeatedly asked him for one on multiple occasions. All he did was signed the bronco order form and had me signed as well. Stating that I wasn’t going to pay any Markups at the time of purchase. I was going to pay msrp iWell it turns out that on the phone and when I went in there this week to pickup my bronco he did do a Markup of $7,400.”
