i like to buy outright as i hate being in debt and i like to keep my vans last one was 13 years from new so had plenty of time to save , your van is your most important tool as long as you look after it no reason to change it , i can see why trades lease but not for me and yes always let other vans out , great vid mate

The issue though with a business owning assets is that the business should, in theory, be able to better invest that money in its core business. So say you have £20k, do you spend that on a van, or invest it in an employee who would hopefully earn in far more than the cost of leasing a van.

I bought my van, but I can definitely see the benefits of leasing. Turning up on a job with a newer van does look good. It adds to the kerb appeal, and probably nets you more work. I definitely let the other tradies out at junctions providing it doesn't confuse others. I could do with a bigger van on some jobs, probably time to get that Ute I have always wanted. I commented on the air heater vlog, but never mentioned Dave. Well, Dave, we need to bring you into schools to teach the next gen how to make things last, by repairing instead of tossing stuff into landfill.

I leased a citroen berlingo a few years ago because I needed a van. I took out a finance lease. Had it three years but after 3 years I had to sell it but I got 85% of the profit, because it was around covid I done really well out of it. Then I bought a peugeot expert was 6 month old from my local dealership. Bought it for £20k Inc vat. I just bought it cash because I had it at the time. I absolutely love it. Suppose you do what best suits yourself.

I'm self employed in property maintenance and my first van in 1999 was a Daihatsu Hi-jet 1 litre. Hated it as blew around in the wind and drum brakes all round. Sold up in the UK and moved to Normandy, France and bought my first car a 1986 Volvo 740 estate in 2002 for £425! Not looked back. Drove that in France for 5 years as only car and renovated the property plus one other. Having running issues and treated ourselves out of the profit to a new Corolla D4D hatchback in 2007. Sold up in France and bought a 1989 Volvo 240GLT auto estate for £350 in Birmingham and moved to County Kerry, Ireland in 2010. Renovated the bungalow and sold it in 2012 and moved back to the UK. After 10 years of owning the 240 wanted something a bit more modern. Bought myself a 1996 Volvo 940 estate in 2016 for £250. Still have this as my works van. Reliable and dependable. 2 summers ago rebuilt the front suspension at 208,000 miles and fixed the AC. Now on 211,000. Majority of my work is repeat business and local, so fuel costs not terrible.

@ Had a van on 3 year lease, paid for 60,000 miles, obviously as I needed lots of cancer treatment I only did just under 25,000 over the term. Peugeot remarked that the van looked like I had only driven it around the block, yet the bandits at the lease company not only charged me every penny of the agreement. But even tried to charge me for none existent damage to the disgust of myself and the Dealership who supplied the van. So never again for me Buddy 🙏

@@MJTiffPlumbing you can request to buy it when the contract ends and they will send you an offer, I figured the depreciation would be a lot less than the leasing payments, you’ve got a good price at the moment, I think you can also choose to extend the leasing contract for another year

All the time, they are using the guilt to get you in, had one the other day, made out it’s a life threatening emergency and they can’t use the toilet etc etc and as you turn up, there’s 3 bathrooms in the house🤦♂️, but guess what I’ve just moved the jobs around and went there at 8 pm rather then being at the gym. So 100% you have to be wary of it and look after your self first.

Lease is dead money wasted. Unless you're one of these idiots i no longer talk to who comes out with stupid comments like it earns you money 😂 dont though does it doesn't go to a property on its own and bangs a combi swap in for you. Disagree also with the look a customer will 100% judge your charge for work based on the van you turn up in. Charges are for your experience and self worth.
@MJTiffPlumbing5 күн бұрын
Works for some and not others… like I said….. Also I disagree…… some people do look at what you’re in and assume you charge more… I’ve had in happen
