There is no "Set BreakevenTargetPrice" in my Misc folder for me to work with. Is this some custom code or something I need? How do I get that there? Thanks!!

Wow! Just bumped into this before heading to bed. LOL! Thanks so much for all you do for the trading community. You are a saint! Question: Looks like we can't use the standard SL and TP section of the builder cause it interferes with the BE conditions is that correct? (Unless we modify the code) So we're creating the initial stop by using inputs and conditions. Is there a way to set a TP? -- Ron
@TradeSaber Жыл бұрын
Thankyou Ron, appreciate the positive feedback! Yes that is correct. There is no way (to my knowledge) to modify a regular SetStop() method from strategy builder without unlocking the code. So we use Exit() methods instead. You can select a target price in a similar way as setting your stop. In that same list where you select ExitLongStopMarket, you can select ExitLongLimit. You just need to modify where it will be set in regards to your entry.

@@TradeSaber i tried it but everytime it gets into my profit target a new long positions opens istantly, what am i doing wrong?😕
@TradeSaber Жыл бұрын
@@ninogrothmann2995 This is most likely because your condition to enter a trade is true again as soon as you exit an order. For the example in the video, we enter long if the current candle is above the previous. If you are long and you just reached your target, then it is very likely the current candle is above the previous. This makes your entry condition true again and enters you again. You would need to add extra conditions to your strategy to prevent this from happening again. If you're in the Discord, check the #Code-Samples room for further examples on how to do something like that. It's a bit difficult to explain in a comment without any sort of visual.

Quick question please, if you are doing on candle close, the break even trigger would happen after the candle close, my experience is that iit would surely bypass the position average price and exit after the candle close. Maybe I missed something from the video. Would you please elaborate? Also what happens when your entry is wrong on the first candle, how do you deal with that, trader would get killed exit after bar close? Thanks

Yes you can do it. It just starts getting a bit tricky on Builder. You will have to mix both of them and make sure the proper sets are reading at the correct time. I have a video that explains how to add a Breakeven and a trail. Not exactly what you need, but you may find it helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGaxYod_ppZ8o5Ysi=jsm2APm7P8Y0iZE2 I've updated the file a bit since that video, you can download the file here: tradesaber.com/automated-trading-example Hope that helps and good luck!

Hello thanks for the valuable content!! Just one question : in set n°1 you put "enter Long market" and I wanted to know if it is possible to set a "enter long position by a stop order" instead??
@TradeSaber Жыл бұрын
Yes you are able to enter the strategy with a stop order if you prefer. Just be careful in a scenario where the price is moving quickly. A stop order on the wrong side of the market will cause NinjaTrader to set an error and disable the strategy (If LongStopMarket is set below the current price). This can happen if your entry is set near the current price and there is a spike in price as soon as the order is submitted. By the time your order gets submitted, it'll be on the wrong side of the market. I personally like to avoid stop market orders because of this. Instead I will often make a double variable and set where my "StopMarket" would be. Then when the price goes above that defined double variable price, I will just submit a regular market order. This essentially emulates a stopMarket order just a bit safer for me. But it is completely up to you 🙂

Hi TradeSaber, thank you for your very helpful videos. Could you please help me with this question? How can I make shure that the BreakevenTickOffset always has to be smaller than the BreakevenDistance?
@TradeSaber Жыл бұрын
With strategy builder, I think it would be easiest to just manually make sure the values are ok. Both are going to be set from your AverageEntryPrice. So as long as the value you use for the offset is smaller than the value for your Distance, then you should be good. Other than that, you could add a condition where BreeakevenDistance > BreakevenTickOffset

Hey there, great video but I am running into an issue. I am using it to backtest, when backtesting, or putting it on the chart without state=realtime, I am showing multiple trades per bar, Im assuming since this is using on price change. Is there a way to make it only take one until it closes? Thanks
@TradeSaber Жыл бұрын
Are you using a high resolution for your back test? If you are, this could be the cause, take it off and see if it still happens. Are you using your own conditions to enter or the same as this video (These are just meant as an example) Another thing you can try is use the same BarsSinceExit conditions as in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJCoZ2uDaJWbnck (This link is time stamped to the part in the video) Let me know if those help. It'll be hard to figure out over a KZbin comment. Maybe send me a screenshot over Discord if it's still giving you a problem.

Hey, thanks for writing this! I was hoping when I copied your complete script and ran it it would start taking profit but instead it just breaks even with an occasional loss. How can I integrate the entry rules that I have for my strategy but also have it breakeven as it goes below the entry price? I really don’t understand where I would put that in on which tab. I feel like I have a good strategy on my own, but I’d like to integrate your stoploss breakeven strategy. Any advice? I know it’s probably annoying to answer the question here, but I’m very close to understanding. Thanks for your help! This is an amazing channel.
@TradeSaber Жыл бұрын
Hello. This is just meant as an example that you would add to your existing strategy. You would place your own entry rules under Set 1 for Long / Set 6 for Short. I didn't add a profit target to this video to keep the video as short as possible. But you would add an ExitLongLimit to Set 2 and Set 4. (Do not use Stops and Targets page for this example. Place your ExitLongLimit under Conditions and Actions).

This is most likely because the PnL needs to get reset back to 0 on each new (Bars.IsFirstBarOfSession) but we also must keep track of the total PnL to get a final number. I have an example on how to do this in my Building an Automated Trader Part 1 & 2 videos: Here is a timestamped area where I run into this specific issue: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5jUhqKomphlnNU This example is mainly for real time trades, but I believe if you change the RealtimeTrades code to AllTrades, then you can see it historically. It's been a while since I looked at this code though.

Man, thanks for the info. However, I've been trying to get this to work for two days now and I'm having problems. I need this feature in one of the strategies I have already made, so I built your framework and added my entry conditions to it. Sometimes the strategy works where it will go to the first target (which I noticed that you did not actually submit a limit order to liquidate at your breakeventarget, why not? The way u set it up only ensures that you don't lose after that target area is hit by raising the stop and it didn't actually lock in any profit.) So, I set up a limit order to actually liquidate when it hits that target and raises the stop like you have here for my second position that I want to hold for another limit order target. I feel like I'm really close to getting it, but I'm overlooking something and can't figure it out. Thanks.
@TradeSaber Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I did not set up a target order in this example as it was meant only to show how to set up a breakeven. But yes you would typically add a target order to your own strategy. If you want to liquidate a portion of your position at the first target, I find it's easier to split your orders up into 2 separate positions. For example, if you wanted to buy 10 contracts and sell 5 at your first target. You would make 2 separate orders for 5 contracts each. Give them each different string tags. I plan on making a full video at some point where we build a fully functioning bot with everything in it, just need to find the time for it.

Thank you for your Videos so helpful! I have a question. How do I set a stop loss that is managed in conditions and actions as an if any statement? I already have other if any conditions to exit long, but I have a problem with the if any exit long hitting the broker at the same level that my 20 tick stop loss that is already on the broker gets touched and making a short position occasionally depending on market conditions. So I need to set my strategy's stop loss to 40 that is on the broker and an if any condition that is 20 tick less than entry price in conditions and actions. So that only one order is executed if any of the conditions are true including the 20 ticks less than entry. Keep in mind I have multiple algorithms in the same strategy builder with Unique entry signals.
