Is there a way for players potentials to go up? I remember in previous NBA2ks you could send a player to training and select untapped potential, but that is unfortunately no longer an option.

You should made adjustment against the teams in playoffs, whenever I’m down in a series I tell them to guard whoever is going off tight and put my best defender on him, more times than not it ends up helping me when the series

in order to get the better pick in a swap deal, you gotta make sure that you are receiving the swap best. if you have the pick that says "swap best" you will have the better pick

One thing I’ve found from trying my own Lakers rebuild: trade Lebron almost immediately. He always retires after this first season. Or you can keep him where 65% of the time he’ll have his worst season to date, override his retirement, and THEN trade him. Also, three team trades are a little fineky at times but if you know what you’re doing, you can manipulate them completely. For example, the three way trade idea being brought up between Pistons, Suns, and Nets. That trade idea if you replace just a few players that really aren’t going to change much will be accepted because the team AIs can’t see they’re being played hard, preferably the Pistons.

Why would LAL buy him out? It doesn’t help them at all. They’d just not have Russ, and not even have his expiring contract to use in a trade…but still have his dead money on the books. It’s not like if you buy him out you free up a bunch of cap space or something. So he can be bought out in LAL, it just serves zero purpose.

It’s unlikely Kyrie ends up in LAL, but far from impossible. If LAL was willing to give up both of their picks in 2027 and 2029 unprotected, a 3-team trade could definitely be facilitated. Those picks have a lot of value. LAL is very likely going to be bad, possibly VERY bad by that time. The thing is LAL is a very poorly run organization so they haven’t offered both picks (I can say this as confidently as someone can who isn’t in the room or on those calls), and I don’t think they will. Jeanie Buss is more worried about not paying extra tax and not trading picks 5/7 years from now than maximizing this window. Pelinka is also a pretty terrible GM. A Kyrie trade to LAL is only really possible if KD A. Wants Kyrie gone, or B. Is leaving regardless. If KD will eventually play with Kyrie, then they won’t move him obviously. BKN would rather have both back for this season if they’ll play. The team is solid around them, and they can make more small moves to improve it. If KD will stay if Kyrie is gone, they’ll move him. If KD won’t stay in BKN regardless, they’ll likely trade him. He may not have leverage under contract, but they don’t want to bring an unhappy KD to training camp ideally. I didn’t read the comment section so I’m not sure what trade stuff you’re referring to with regards to not understanding trade rules or the cap. Can you give me an example?

What assets are you getting back for AD and LBJ? And you’re going to be really bad if you trade them, but don’t have your own 1st. They have swap worst this year w/ NOP (so if you’re bad and NOP ends up with like pick 18, they’ll get pick 18) and then next year NOP can either take their pick or defer it to the next year. Obviously if you trade AD/LBJ you’re gonna be terrible and they’ll take that pick too. The only team trading for LBJ would be a contender so any picks you get aren’t gonna be valuable. And LBJ is on an expiring deal and could just leave. So how much is a team giving up for a rental of an older LeBron? Maybe a couple protected 1sts and some salary filler? Then AD’s value is at the lowest it has ever been. Trading him now would be a bad idea. You’d ideally wait until he has a good healthy year this year then move him if that was really the plan. Then you still have Russ on the books, and you’ll need to get back matching salary in AD/LBJ trades. So they’ll be a tax team that is trash. If they want to get out of the tax in LBJ and AD trades, that’s going to negatively effect the trade packages you get that were already going to be not great. This is why you’re not a GM.
