I remember them days me and my cousin would park on the side of the old piece of road. One took one ridge I’d take the other we didn’t have cell phones in them days we left his or my truck whoever had the most gas and stay gone till around noon. Shortly one of us would come out to get help from the other to drag a deer out. Absolutely the best times. He’s at his house barely can get around anymore and I had triple bypass heart surgery last Thursday. We still go not near as much as we used to. Take care of yourself you’re young buddy it don’t take much to knock a person down and keep him down. Be safe and GOD BLESS

Hello Gabe. In my book you have the best white tail hunting videos! From your commentary to the acoustic guitar music , the images, your obvious love of the natural world.... Because of health problems I couldn't be out there with my bow this past season, hopefully this next. In the meantime your videos will help keep the dream alive. All the best to you and yours.

@FullQuiverOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I completely understand. However, it's very hard to self-tape these hunts and kill deer with a longbow from a tree stand. It would ridiculously hard to try to do the same from the ground. I've shot quite a few deer from the ground but only been able to video them with a GoPro which doesn't make for good video. When I have a cameraman it's a little easier but that's not very often at all unfortunately. Sorry.

Wondering what the width of the broadheads you were using? Some archers swear a 1.5 inch two blade is the way to go for blood trials. What is your experience for overall cut and blood trails?
@FullQuiverOutdoors Жыл бұрын
The head I used for this hunt is just over an inch. I believe it’s 1 1/8”. I too used to want a big cut broadhead. But I found I lost penetration and didn’t always get a pass through shot. I would rather have two holes in an animal than one big one. Just my two cents. I shot two deer last year with this head and both died in sight in less than 60yds. I’ve shot a lot of deer with all different heads and this is as good a performance in a head as you can hope for. So, my overall experience is that shot location trumps size of head. If you make a bad shot, a bigger cut head can help but I’d rather have two holes (and possibly smaller width) myself.
@bradlauber9097 Жыл бұрын
Good to know as I shoot 1.1/8 two blade and had them drop 50 yrds as well. I also shoot a small 3 blade that works very well also.. Some bowhunters mentioned the bigger the Broadhead they found more often the deer would even run off faster with a bigger wound than a smaller cut head.. I agree shot placement is everything and two holes are better than one.. thank you
