Been looking for a recipe like this. So many American recipes for 'bread pudding' are more like what I knew as a bread and butter pudding when I was a kid.

Thank you for finding the recipe and commenting - it's much appreciated! I have also found that to be the case, so many more like the traditional style bread and butter pudding rather than bread pudding!

Looks unreal... my Mom’s from London , and she had a bad fall recently... I remember her trying (and failing 😆 I vaguely remember buttered strips of bread floating around in a tray of milk 🤣) to make this without a recipe when I was a kid ... so I’ll make this for her 🙃 great video! Liked and subscribed 😆

Hi Elliott! Finally! The old skool bread pudding I’ve been looking for!! 🥳 With the amount of bread, is it basically a whole loaf of white bread? I’m struggling fitting the whole loaf in a bowl 😂🙈 pleeeeeeeease help me and thank you! 👍🏻

Hey Nicola Bicola! Thank you for the comment - it really means a lot! It's a little more than a whole loaf of bread but you can always half the recipe and bake in a smaller 8 inch square cake tin (if that'd help), otherwise I understand the struggle haha. All but one of my bowls is big enough - it gets very messy at times! 👍

Haha, I would say it's self life is at best 4-5 days, if wrapped individually in clingfilm. If you half the recipe, you can a smaller 8 inch tin version, which may be better! Thank you for stopping by! 👍

WWII recipe everyone will be making this soon keep all your crust's and freeze them knock up a bread pudding cut it up in to rations and eat with a cup of tea. Every time my gran made this like once a month my old man would remember the war bread pudding was a luxury then while holding this greasy blob of shirt on a spoon swigging mouthfuls of it down with a cup of tea the size of the toilet. That was back in the 80s grate times love the stuff almost have enough crust's in the freezer and do you know what can't wait till I have enough to make it out of what I would have just thrown away will make taste that much better. The price on electric gas and soon shortage of food start looking to what you can do now for when the time comes when others will be looking for anything to eat.

Hey - great question! I don't use any butter as its not required in the recipe. The bread pudding is perfectly moist and flavoursome as it is - if you wanted to add butter, use melted butter on top, then scatter over the sugar and bake!

Hi , i made a bread pudding yesterday and it required melted butter , why do u use it and what difference does it make. Mine cooked for hours but it burnt on the outside and wasnt cooked in the middle.. the only thing that i done differently to my recipe is i put in melted spread type butter not a block of butter. I ruined it , what a waste of good not cheap ingredients 😢x
