I have tried few recipes of this bake. This recipe yields the best result so far, spongy and well textured. Exactly like the traditional one I know of. The surface of the cake looks great and smooth. Not cracked. Thank you for sharing.

Thank u for your recipe. Taste great. Not sure where I went wrong. Mine turned out more like cake at the top layer and less spongy.

Hi Miss Ling, thank you for the recipe. I have tried, and the cake taste good except there is no honeycomb structure inside the cake. May I consult is there any mistake on my baking method?

Honeycomb cake is originated and still very popular in Vietnam, so may i suggest you watch the VN version and some even explain the tricks

is it 1st use lower heat to bake for 20 mins 180 degree and after that upper heat for 20 minutes for 180 degree?

This recipe not using baking powder, you will fail doing it.

First bake with bottom heat for 20 minutes then switch to top heat and bake for another 20 minutes

I only have Cake Flour, Top Flour and Self Raising Flour. Can use any of them instead of Plain Flour? Can I line the tin with parchment paper?

Plain flour is All purpose flour, maybe you could try to use Cake flour. Yes i lined mine with parchment paper.

It is a good recipe. I let it rest in the mould for an hour and bake. The reason is I don't want to break the air pockets. The result of the honeycomb is because of the air pockets created by the baking soda.
