Why would you wish for it to go back to when the community didn't understand anything of what was being said and only repeated (often misspronounced) stuff by memory? I don't think the Holy Ghost went down to the Apostoles and made them speak tongues for the world to be celebrating Mass in a dead language 2000 years later. The priest should face the community and let them see what goes on the altar. To me, the only advantage of the latin rite is the quality of the music.

@@VeraDonna why?? Who says Latin is a dead language Latin was an active speaking language its use started reducing in the late 19s and then became a complete dead language. Only because people don't speak Latin anymore doesn't mean it should be forbidden or not said. While the church has always guarded Latin even in the new rite Latin can never be removed. For the church to be universal one and understanding one language is necessary the language will shall till the end of times a great things against heresies remember also this Latin mass has converted so many pagans to Christians this language also destroys heretics the language which none vernacular can match. If you go to see everyone has an universal language Muslims have Arabic Hindus have Sanskrit and all other religions. Pope st Pius X condemned the use of vernacular because it is a punishment to the church all mess confusion and misleading. why is it necessary for everyone to understand everything there are many people who say that maybe in the old times people didn't understand Latin but history proves them wrong even the uneducated understood it all better Why to say the mass looking the people? Why is it important to people to see everything we are offering the mass to God all should turn to one side as Moses leads his people in prayer turned in one direction. God should be the center note man. The Latin mass is the beautiful mass and should return one day!

Just want to say this was the OG video that got me into the TLM and my journey into Catholic tradition. From a wide-eye teenager in a country where the TLM was effectively banned, to serving at a pontifical high mass with a Cardinal. Despite how people denigrate the FSSPX, you cannot deny their staunch defence of the traditions of the church, their admirable stance against modernism and their tremendous zeal for souls. For 29 years I went to the novus ordo Mass and nearly lost my salvation. I didn't confess my sins, made my own decisions as to what was a sin and what was not, didn't follow the Precepts of the Church or Cannon law. By all contemporary Catholic standards I was a good Catholic in good standing with the Church. This Mass and traditional Catholic teachings brought me back to my Savior! Deo gratias!

When I attend the new Mass I am stunned to hear hymns that have no melody and are discordant.Before the mass starts I like to pray but the magpies constant yapping does not make that possible. Better that Gregorian Chants are played before the mass begins to discourage the chatter.

I'm almost 32 and have attended the OF Mass all my life. I know the power, privilege and necessity of the sacrament of reconciliation and believe bi-weekly confession to be exceptional. Were it not for the gas issue, weekly would be the norm. I know what sin is and strive to follow all the Church's teachings and commandments. I consider myself a contemporary Catholic and I do not consider what you described a Catholic in "good standing". You were a disobedient, unfaithful and lukewarm Catholic (bad standing). The traditional latin Mass is beautiful and I understand why you like it but don't blame the OF Mass for your free will choices.

this is an sspx mass in econe. there is not a problem with the sppx and thanks to the sspx you have the latin mass today. if the sspx were in schism we would not adhere to the law of the catholic church. we have an irregular union. but when we have the novus ordities running rampant in the church doing things without canonical permission NO ONE... NOT ONE SINGLE SOUL CARES. but God forbid a truly catholic society come about and continue the true catholic priesthood! the 1983 code of canon law says that consecrating bishops even if were illicit would not be an act of schism. the ecclesia dei has also made it clear that the sspx is not in schism and also anyone can attend their masses and serve and contribute to their masses. if you think we are not in union think again. but if you are in agreement feel free to share this info. thanks. I was raised into Vatican II Catholicism, but my faith fluctuated a lot. I've wasted many years not worshipping our Lord. I never took my faith seriously because Vatican II Catholicism doesn't take itself seriously. That all changed three months ago after I decided to attend Latin mass. I went out of curiosity; I wanted to see the mass my mother grew up knowing. Instead, I fell deeply in love with Latin mass to the point that I was in tears. The devotions, the dedications, the strict protocol of tradition and individual expectation to uphold the faith made me become enthralled with the service. Latin mass has actually given me faith for the first time in my life and I am deeply devoted to our Lord because of it. Today, I could not attend mass in the morning because I had to work; a rarity for me to have to work on a Sunday. I decided to attend the last mass of my previous Catholic church (mind you, I haven't even attended Vatican II mass in six years.) My eyes were opened to the evils of the new church and how much it has changed since I last attended: no kneeling and crossing ones self at the pew, no kneeling - _at all_ - the kneelers had been uninstalled and parishioners actually STOOD during the Liturgy of the Eucharist, Christian pop songs being sung as "hymns," holy water fonts removed at doorways, no candles, no incense, and lazy, dirty parishioners whom actually showed up in the middle of mass, literally coming from the beach and smelling like salt water and damp sand. The disrespect was too much for me. I bailed on their "litugry" and I hurried out of that "church." I immediately came to this video when I came home and I wept at its purity, its holiness, and most of all, its strict protocol to tradition! I can't wait to go back to Latin mass next week! *I will **_never_** return to Vatican II!*

In case anyone is interested: if you live in the SoCal area, Mission San Juan Capistrano has traditional Latin mass! Every Sunday at 8am (also 6am every first Sunday of the month) and daily Latin mass at 8am! Latin mass is held at the Serra Chapel - the _original_ church that was built in _1776!_

First Latin Mass I ever watched. The overwhelming beauty, sanctity, solemnity and shaking spirituality of the TLM has made me completely abandon the Novus Ordo sect. This wonderfull Mass full of joy and unimaginable, pure beauty is the definition of faith and warms my soul. I had tears in my eyes as I was watching this for the first time 3 years ago. Traditional Catholic right here! I have never attended a mass in English except for a funeral and a First Communion years ago. I am 20 years old and have both sang in Choir for the Solemn High Mass, and served as Acolyte and Thurifer in years gone by. If you search you can still find latin masses in many countries and states.

What we got, on the First Sunday of Advent in 1969, was the new Mass of Pope Paul VI. It was in English and I remember how shocked and disappointed I was on that day, about 6 weeks before my 32nd birthday. It is a very dumbed down and desanctified parody of the wonderful 'Mass of Ages', the Mass my Irish ancestors fought and died for down the long and bleak years of the Penal Laws. My objections to it are not because it is in English although I prefer the Latin, but because so much is missing.

The latin tridentine came back, the pearl of our faith. But still remains the new english translation mass which adopted the faithful translation from latin and the dress code. How about mouth communion and altar rails. And the format is different.The vestiges of vatican ii is still here in the New english mass.Oneness in language can unify the catholic world and that should be latin because that is the language of the church.

We asked for bread but were given a stone when our Holy Mother the Church introduced the Mass of Pope Paul VI in English and other languages on the First Sunday of Advent 1969. Since that dreadful day the Church has been in decline as vocations fell, Sunday Mass attendance fell. The changes were justified at that time (I am now 75 years old and remember it well) as "opening the Church to the modern world". The modern world did indeed enter the Church with all its easy ways. It has ruined us all.

I recently became Catholic. My sponsor was an older lady who grew up with the Latin Mass. She said when she was young, there were 2 or more priests at every mass, and nuns who lived across the street. They had three masses every Sunday, all were full. It makes one wonder why they changed it. Now we have one priests for two churches, and no nuns. I still love the Mass, but it would be nice if they would throw us a cookie once in a while and sing the Kyrie and Gloria and Angus Dei in Latin.

I think I’ve used that one before. I used to be the organist for a TLM offered in my are before they discontinued it. The community moved their TLM to a different church too far away for me to serve. I sang in the tenor section too. Always enjoyed being in the choir for the TLM. I got to give back to God what He bestowed upon me.

The Second Vatican Council brought ruin to the Catholic Church because it resulted in the setting aside of the ancient teachings that we call the 'Faith of Our Fathers'. The SSPX have been told that one of the conditions they must accept in order to end their schism is the full and unconditional agreement with Vatican Two. That is not easy because there are two Vatican 2s! The first is the one agreed and signed by all the bishops including Archbishop Lefebvre. The second was what we got in 1969

You don't need to understand Latin that comes eventually, the idea is that you can pray more personally contemplatively rather than physical participation but metaphysical ! God Bless and I sincerely hope you come Home and to the Mass of all ages- I always find it a treat. I'll pray for you
