Robyn Stapleton performs My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose live at The Tolbooth (The Visit 2017)

Celebrated Scottish folk singer Robyn Stapleton performs the classic Robert Burns song 'My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose' live for an audience at The Tolbooth in Stirling. Robyn was awarded BBC Scotland's Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2014 and has since released two albums to critical acclaim. In April 2017 TRADtv teamed up with Showcase Scotland Expo to capture exclusive performances at The Visit showcasing event. We filmed live traditional music sessions in Paisley (in Paisley Town Hall, Paisley Abbey and Paisley Arts Centre) and Stirling (in The Tolbooth).
The Showcase Scotland Expo team take delegates from North America to different parts of the country to soak up the history and culture and enjoy showcase performances by a selection of the most exciting contemporary traditional music artists in distinct and special venues.

Very beautiful interpretation. Robert Burns was a particular favorite of my father (he used to recite his poems to us when we were children). I had a stanza of this song inscribed on his and my mom's memorial plaque, "And I will love thee still my dear 'til all the seas gang dry."

I stop what I'm doing when I hear Robyn Stapleton, singing the best lyric written by a man in love (tying with the Bard's Sonnets 18 and 116). Perfect accompaniment, keyboard and violin. Wish I had been in Stirling's historic Tolbooth the night Robyn sang for us.
