The sales information you gave shouldn’t have shocked me and yet it did a little. Greetings from the "past its prime" area of The Villages. We have the area's only hospital, all three live theater venues, seven groceries, two town squares, 60 plus restaurants, and innumerable retail stores all within a 15 minute golf cart ride. For a golf cart community, that seems pretty prime to me.

Thank you so much for speaking up for us ladies named Karen! I'm one of the admins for a Facebook group for women named Karen, with 1800 members. We came together to support each other, as the "Karen" thing has gotten really nasty. Seeing you both speak up on this is so touching. Believe me, it means a *lot* when someone says they think it's not right to do this to our name. (I wouldn't want to see it happen to any other names, either.)

It’s quite challenging to hit the road during a power outage. Traffic lights don’t work, and intersections can be frightening! My mom lived in Lake Worth, on the 6th floor of a building that was serviced by a single elevator,during a season of at least 5 miserable hurricanes, with multiple days-long outage. Sadly, she was not able to walk stairs at that stage of her life. If not for her landline telephone and the kindness of longtime neighbors, my family up North would have been frantic! Most incredibly, having experienced WWII as a young woman, she was able to maintain calm and felt safe. Thanks for making me aware of solar tubes and golf sandals! Cool!

The most wonderful thing about solar tube, is that you don't have to use electric lights.... you don't have to turn the lights on in the bathroom in the middle of the light, the star light is enough to see what you have to do. No wheel in showers in regular homes, only designer homes. To upgrade your shower in an older home is reasonably priced. Doorways are wide, and floors are all on one level. Re: the turnpike noise. If you don't want to have a home impacted by the turnpike noise; don't buy a home near the turnpike. You have many options here in the villages. The older sections are very nice, and some of us, prefer the older sections, for lots of reasons.
@DeborahLynnM2 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen the open wheel-in showers recently in the new courtyard villas and veranda homes. I think it’s the norm now for the primary bathroom in new builds in TV. I love them!

It's obvious that people love the interaction between both of you. There's no sarcastic or mean comments to each other, just playful silliness which is so refreshing. We are in St. Catherine. During day can barely hear turnpike as the sound of golf cars and vehicles on neighborhood roads drowns the turnpike out. At night when local traffic abates and weather allows the windows to be open can definitely hear the turnpikes steady hum. I would rather not, but being from Chicago I’ve lived with way worse surrounding community noise. My favorite noise, the dads on our block yelling at us kids to get off their lawn.

Nice going guys. With regards the Spanish Springs area, as an example, the Paradise Rec Center (first one) is scheduled to be either remodeled or rebuild completely. Current discussion is which way to go with budget talks in the $18.5 to $19.5 millions dollars project cost. Silver Lake Rec center just got new pool tables. Spanish Spring Town Square is as vibrant and entertaining as any other. Most (if not all) shows/acts rotate among all squares. Saludos !!!

I am Canadian and live on Vancouver Island by the ocean, retired. I know I would never want to, or have the opportunity, to retire in Florida. Although I must say the housing prices are very reasonable there, compared to here. You would be looking at double or more, the prices you mentioned to buy a house here. In reference to the Villages expanding so much and changing Florida. Things change in accordance with the needs of the population, and you are quite right in saying that residents of the Villages are paying pretty hefty property taxes to maintain the infrastructure and services for all the communities. Then there is another point. I think it is great that all seniors are required to retire and live in Florida. If an older person in your family goes Awol, everyone will know where to go look for them - and likely find them lounging around on a big old floaty, in a pool in the Villages, listening to the Beach Boys. lol
