Definitely agree on that part where I never thought the anime would make me cry despite having played the game (on my 2nd playthrough already). Losing the characters I thought I'd see til the end of the anime really crushed my heart...💔 But man seeing Devola and Popola getting the gratitude they deserve makes me so happy, can't wait to see what's in store for them.

Killing the village wasn't enough , Taro had to kill the resistance too. Makes me wonder who's gonna be left once the whole thing is over. Surely they will adapt farwell from the concert in the last ep as well. Still the game did it better imo. With the children killing themselves instead of being eaten by a virused one. Way darker and psychological imo. And leaving Pascal's fate up to the player.

The only thing I will say its hard to leave the fate up to the player in a anime. lol. But I think that we saw some of the same situations play out. Like I said A2 had to make the choice on what to do with lily. Pascal has to still face the outcome of his choices.

I don't think im gonna watch the anime. I was happy enough knowing that the end of automata had a happy ending for the resistance and for 2b and 9s, even though a2 got killed in every possibility, but this new timeline is completely messed up lmao. Nobody can stay alive apparently

Why oh why did A2 have to be the one to kill Lily! I would have taken anyone else! 😭😭😭😭 I can't take it anymore! Pascal death woth the children completely undermined the reason why he taught them fear and was not well done, but too be honest Lily's death with 9S finding the 2B's message completely makes up for that! Oh Lily, oh Lily! WHHHHYYYY! 😭😭😭😭😭

@@GodFire91 Him self destructing makes no sense. Also, the fact that the children didn't end themselves doesn't make him rethink his entire philosophy, he is supposed to be depressed while A2 finds a bit more joy in life. Then you can either kill him, erase.his memories (which is the same as death) or walk away, which breaks A2 and Pascal's friendship (the most non canon option). Either way the Pacal death was bad.

@@gravityfallscanada So this was my interpretation based off the fact it is a anime. A2 did have to make that same choice with lily. Just because we are not in control of the character. A2 had to still make a choice. Also Pascal self destruct I just saw it as him doing the same thing the resistance members did. They had to take themself out before they completely lost control. WE saw it with Rose. We saw it in this episode as well. He still had to face the fact that it was because he taught them the fear of dying. So that hasn't changed. It's just another layer of fear he taught them.

@@GodFireBreakdowns I didn't really agree with that interpretation of A2 making a choice as she clearly wanted to heal Lily, but Lily refused and made the choice for her. Also by judging how long she was infected there might have been no way for her to be saved due to this virus spreading even faster than the evolved one 2B got. More to that, A2 would never have let Lily wander the earth as she would have infected other androids or even A2 herself. *So no, I don't think the anime took elements from the Pascal scene and gave it to A2, they just wanted to kill Lily again/give a closed ending to the resistance, unlike the game, and oh man it brought too many emotions!* As for Pascal, it may be true that he tried to take himself out, but why would he let the child touch him to begin with? Also the fear of death was more of a collective lesson, not really applying to one child going insane. Anyway, Pascal's death wasn't my issue it was the fact that the meaning behind it is lost.

@@gravityfallscanada I can agree with the A2 thing. It's no different then when she dealt with 2B. She seen first hand and had to deal with more infected comrades in the novel. Which was also why she didn't hesitate with killing 2B. And why she was able to make the same choice with lily. But either situation ultimately it is down to A2 choice on what to do with it. It's just another way of looking at it. For pascal and the child. What do you think he should of done?

Reminds me of how I wanted to see an epilogue story from the game's continuity where Jackass goes after the surviving Android High Command like she says she plans to in the files. Confronting the final one at a table in an android Cafe and plopping down a rocket launcher (with the sights removed so you can't tell which is the front or back) and plays a sadistic game with him. Ala the deleted alternate ending from Die Hard 3. With Jackass in the place of Bruce Willis. "Jackass With a Vengeance: a NieR Automata Story"

I have no idea what will happened. With the both of them just losing everything. I feel like A2 will keep to her same drive like in the game and keeping her word on wanting to protect 9S. But at the same time there is a off chance of that not happening. I mean idk how i would do handling all of this.

I believe there are going to take the path where A2 hacks 9S and destroys the tower due to this being seen in the opening. This will lead to us finally getting the true good ending E with A2 rebooting. This is the only hope I can see after a tear jerking episode like that!

We see a number of hints in the opening to what I think the ending is going to bring. [possible spoilers to my theory] Much like how we get a glimpse of Ending C in the opening, We also briefly see rows and rows of Pods just before 9S's fight with A2. A few episodes ago they mentioned the Pod Network has thousands of them, yet we don't see vast swarms of pods anywhere (their programming holding them back?) Between that and Pod 042 recording a certain defiant phrase from A2 leads me to believe that we'll see a payoff for that in the ending. Where, like the game, the Pods are the ones that save the day, defying their programming to do so. The idea of Pod 042 saying "Suck it" to a gloating Council and opening fire with a swarm of backup to get the good ending does appeal to me.

2:02 At this point, I've headcanon'd that those are just their names, or codenames they go by. Kind of like how Commander's name is 'White,' Instructor Black's name was, well, 'Black'. Simply being colours, rather than a culturally given flower name. Maybe someone else, or another resistance member from another country might find out about the goal of the machines and Yorha and we'll still get a machine report? Iicr, the 'resistance' is just the name for the local resistance group in the city ruins and its surrounding areas, and Yorha operates in other countries other than Japan except those in the Night Kingdom

2B would be Luna I think, in reference to the Lunar Tear. 9S would be something like Chris, referencing a thornflower. Though them sharing a flower could represent their status as soulmates.
