Tragedy Strikes as Three Members of Gospel Group The Nelons Killed in Wyoming Plane Crash

The Grammy-nominated family gospel group The Nelons has suffered a tragedy: Three of its members have died in a plane crash.
Three members of the US family gospel group The Nelons were among seven people killed in a plane crash in Wyoming. Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler died on Friday while taking a flight to perform on a cruise ship.
Three members of the Nelons, a Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame quartet and the chairman of the board overseeing the Georgia Department of Corrections, were among seven people killed in a plane crash in Wyoming, according to a statement by a group member who was not aboard the aircraft.
The Nelons co-founder, Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler died in the crash Friday afternoon, according to a statement from another daughter, Autumn Nelon Streetman. She is the fourth member of the Georgia-based quartet.

Singers Kelly Nelon Clark, 64, husband Jason Clark, and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler, 35, were killed along with the latter's husband Nathan Kistler, 34, the Georgia-based band's assistant, Melodi Hodges, plus the pilot, Larry Haynie, and his wife, Melissa Haynie, Gaither Management Group said in a statement.
"One of the best loved Gospel music families in America," the company said. "The Nelons were involved in a tragic, fatal plane crash on Friday afternoon on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska."

Kelly Nelon Clark - who was a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame-inducted singing group since 1977, when her father Rex Nelon founded the group - as well as her husband and Nelons singer Jason Clark and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler died in the crash, which occurred as the Nelons were en route to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise in Alaska, USA Today reports.

Gaither Management Group posted a statement on Autumn Nelon Streetman's Instagram account saying that her mother, Kelly Nelon Clark; father, Jason Clark; and older sister, Amber Kistler, were killed in the crash.
