Patrick Pedraza couldn’t have been more perfect for the role of Wanderer. His voice captures all the emotion the Wanderer’s feeling. The smile as he tried to suppress his sadness quickly turning into a frown… and the gold pinion that has still been with him all this time, hanging next to his heart, now reborn as the Wanderer. Amazing animation and storytelling as always 👏🏼

I 1000% agree with you there. This man’s performance was actually the reason I cried during this trailer. My heart WRENCHED at some of the lines man. It’s like Wanderer is still someone lost in this world he’s basically been thrusted into without knowing what else to do. He’s someone he’s loved and lost even without fully understanding the pain of his own emotions and himself :,) so his growth from Scaramoche to Wanderer is one I’m ecstatic to see

The owner throwing the puppet into fire is how Scaramouch perceives him being disowned by Ei, but that is such a massive misunderstanding. Also, to see that despite everything, he continues to keep the feather on him at all times even now. Ei needs to speak to him.

Man, you can hear the absolute pain and hopelessness in past Scara but with the present Scara, the Wanderer, he sounds more resolved if that's the right word. The VA did an absolutely amazing job capturing the emotions of Scaramouche. They really made me hate him for one nation then feel bad for him in the next nation. That's Hoyo writing for you.

it's really interesting that all male anemo characters have lost important person. Scara lost the child, Venti lost his bard friend, Xiao lost his brothers, Kazuha's friend killed by shougun, and hezou also lost a friend in his character story

Ya, the perception of freedom when they got their vision could also relate to being “freed” from emotional attachments, with close friends/family = ground, they die so u have no more attachment to the ground, or anyone to “ground” you = being suspended in the air. That’s just how I’ve thought of it as and it makes the most sense as to why every anemo user we’ve seen so far has a dead friend that has been crucial in how their personalities have been shaped

Maybe Anemo symbolizing "Moving On" or "Taking Step Forward." Freedom from your past self? Venti was a Seelie and borrowed his friend's appearance as a memento of living the Legacy of what his friend fighting for which what Mondstadt today.. Freedom. They literally move step forward and develop their country free from Aristocrats. It is not just being Emo, since Sucrose and Sayu was not like that at all.

Same can be said for Jean. When Varka embarked on his grand expedition she was left to administrate Mondstadt and "Taking A Step Forward" fits pretty well. She had to step forward but she also grew with the responsibility to guide Mondstadt in his absence.

This demo made me cry ...a lot This soundtrack and voice acting was so emotional 1:27 this violin's part is amazing, I've got chills 0:02 "once more... I lost my heart" but when was the first time? during one of "three betrayals" ? or when he got the gnosis and cried while dreaming Did he try to die and turn to ashes, hoping that his ashes turns into a heart but he couldn't die because he's a puppet created by Lost Art? For the end, maybe it's during his fall and he got a flashback of his life and regrets, or it can be that with the blue tree in the trailer that he travels in his memories (something like that ?) "No, in fact ... I wish I'd been never born at all" this phrase is breaking me *crying* Can we talk about the little Scaramouche doll who is crying? Yeah we have a lot of use of ash and tears, even heart too The soldier wanted a heart to be near the ballerina; so Scaramouche wanted the gnosis (especially or maybe only the electro gnosis) to be near and recognized by his mother I will get him EDIT: I just saw the thumbnail and it's one of the best, i love it

wow I know this video's prettyyy old but I'm really happy things like his inferiority complex were brought up. It's pretty easy to get other aspects of his character like the common use of evil immortals grieving mortal deaths... all that, but his lack of worth that was planted in him at his abandonment and only festered over time is one of those things I think makes him an even better character as it adds more depth than just a 'bad stuff happened now evil'. After reading his lore I went back to the delusion factory dialogue, and lots of it feels like projecting. Tons of the insults and things he says you can just flip around, apply to him, and get a better sense of his character.

But seriously.. for a teaser, that music was absolutely amazing in every way. You can hear the anger and sadness combined, and it gives a sense of tragedy, everything the Wanderer was feeling in the moment. Masterfully done if you ask me, and from the looks of the teaser he may have a chance to search for a purpose in life. (Also i do like this format UD i think it's the format you've been using pretty much and i've already liked it. This trailer was absolutely phenomenal. No words can describe how beautifully tragic and real Patrick delivered Scaramoche/Wanderer’s lines. It sounded so raw, like someone lost and on the verge of tears. And hearing/seeing him interact with the kid that was his friend in the flashback made my heart ache a bit. But what hit the nail in the coffin for me was when he was in the fire towards the end. When he said the things to himself at his lowest. That hit home for me man

Also not sure if any one else has pointed out yet but the story told by the child is an altered version of The Steadfast Tin Soldier by Hans Christian Andersen its interesting because in the original the ballerina dies with the tin soldier. idk if this has any importance but i just feel line sharing that : basically, in french scara’s name « the wanderer » is « le nomade » which holds a much heavier meaning! if i’m correct, and i should be, nomade is not a term used commonly, it was used a lot more in the past for people that traveled without a real objective, with nowhere to belong to, and i feel like in english « wanderer » kinda lost it’s importance,… anyways, can’t wait for the story! i wanna learn how he became the wanderer and what he yearns for now

Don't know if it's just my brain auto-filling songs based on singular notes but some parts of this teaser music reminds me of 'Destined Parting' (the ost from We Will Be Reunited), which makes everything sound even more emotional.

The interesting thing about Scaramouche is he was coded like a psychopath. His action and body movement don't match his intent from the beginning. And Even the Traveller remarks that even though he seems composed he seems more unhinged at the same time. Although he was given life something has always been broken in him either it was the Gnosis fault when first put into him or the lack of human treatment, like a disposable commodity (A forced shutdown and dumping with no note as to why, and his last memory of Ei was disappointed or disgust at her failure.) and not having a home life to allow him to grow as a person in a safe space. He's never had the connection he has needed to his own heart. It has always been there but the "logical" (self loathing) brain is telling him one thing and HOW to act, while he's clearly experiencing something different in his soul. This disconnect is in all his interactions and his desperation as he was becoming a GOD was showing in the least archon quest. As I also didn't like him because this is the second time meeting a Fatui in the game after La Signora "shaking" Venti, we are supposed to hate the Fatui in general due to the framing in the 1.0+ series of patches. Things were changing by the time we saw Scara again (or for the first time). The lines were starting to turn very GREY as Ei was perfectly aware of the human war going on and just didn't care or bring herself to care about it in the face of so much conflict in her past. She let the Fatui do their thing with the Delusion factory, and with her tacit approval. The same way Zhongli sicked Osial's resurrection onto Liyue. "HE" didn't do it because Morax was "DEAD" but Zhongli wanted to test his people through the Fatui and La Signora's/The Tsaritsa plan. The Wanderer will need to atone because Scaramouche was partly his creation, Scaramouche needed to do ANYTHING to get the "heart" he was built for and that included burying his soul which was only disconnected at that time. He was not feeling connected to his actions because "life is pain" and meaningless to him. It was hinted at that the Fatui (The Doctor) implanted a Delusion into him, so that Scaramouche could feel something. That even if it was only twisted emotions and vile curses it was better than the nothingness he currently felt. A Delusion heart would certainly change his worldview as well. And we can see how detached Scaramouch is about the Child that died while becoming a god during the archon quest. But this same scene as it's happening is different in this teaser. His words are angry but all you hear is the pain of lose he is feeling.

You are still supposed to hate fatui, they are absolutely not good people. Later updates have just established that the fatui arent evil for the sake of being evil but are pressed for a goal they envision to be a better one. The Fatui is still evil'- they kidnap and experiment on children, they will wipe out villages and turn them into orphans so that they can recruit them into skirmishers, skirmishers and lower ranking fatui officials being neglected and tossed apart- the Fatui really arent the good guys

Yes, Wanderer is indeed talking to his past self, but what if it's literal. We saw in the 3.3 Livestream that they go to an area similar to Irminsul. Maybe it's where he accesses his memories and basically gives himself a pep talk. This is a stretch, of course.

It still doesn't change my initial opinion man. I really like his story and his importance in story but I still hate/dislike him as a character. I really hope they don't make the story like, "I hate my past, so I'll just erase it and start anew" or that's what was I understood to be implied from his words in the version trailer. If he really confronts himself properly then I might admire his character as a whole, if not then he would be like Otto but in Genshin and simpler version. I would hate him but love his story.

I don’t think that Anemo necessarily represents freedom from past trauma bc Kazuha and Xiao didn’t lose their loved ones until after they got their visions and Jean and Sucrose never lost any significant loved ones. I think an anemo vision simply represents that the person values freedom overall and doesn’t necessarily relate to losing a loved one or past trauma

Tbh I'm more interested in how they make the jump from edgy evil to The Wanderer. That will probably decide for me if I want to pull for him in a rerun banner, because right now even with his tragic backstory I can't stand the guy. Same was for Signora. She also had a tragic backstory but something is missing for me to even feel enough to really care. Childe is completely different. I like and respect the guy. He is not evil for the sake of being evil when he was first introduced and also later down the road.

The problem with Scaramouche for me was that his evil wasn't for "the greator good" or even for any selfless reason. It was just him going through the motions of what he was told to do or for power without a reason for it. Though I also don't think he actually did anything comparable to the other Harbringers. While someone like Ei, thought what she was doing was going to keep most Inazumans safe. Tsaritsa and Pierro know they are doing evil, but their goal is the greater good for all of Teyvat, not even just Snezhnaya. Childe is partly doing what he does to keep his family safe. Even La Signora seemed to be a real fan of Tsaritsa ideology, basically "I don't want others to go through what I did" so she was doing the whole "few suffer now, so no one needs to suffer later"-type of a thing. Abyss has a semi-selfish wish, but it's also centered on other people. Celestia is a negative on the world and we want to bring back those we have lost.

I guess this is why I still can't compare him to Vergil. The guy, his edginess aside, wanted and worked for the power of his father to retain his legacy and never really bothered with anyone unless they got in his way (also hiding his innermost desires to be loved and protected; and showing a ton of remorse for everything bad Vergil did as V). Scara's still...the typical edgelord whom stans suffer some cognitive dissonance for since any guy IRL would be thrown the "women are not therapists" spiel or something
