Great video! I was excited to see this one as soon as I saw it on my feed! This lake has been on my list for a while, but I've haven't been there yet, because I can't link it with anything else in the area. You proved to me even more that there is no bush whacking up to the state line trail. Bush whacking in the Bitterroots is just tough. Thanks for showing this one to me! I'm definitely going in there at some point!

Thanks! I have been to going to Trail Lake for years. One of my favorite lakes. If I can figure out how to get to the Stateline from there I have a grand loop idea that would include St Joe, Trail, Hoodoo, Dalton, Pearl, and Heart Lakes with a little road walking. I have a map that shows a trail to the Stateline but can't find were it was. Gonna keep trying till I figure it out. You are right bush whacking in the Bitterrots is very difficult. If you ever ending hiking to Traill Lake let know would love to hike with you. Hike on!

@@pilowespo Sounds like an awesome loop! Some of the best of the Great Burn in there! I'd be in on that trip.

The Trail from Stateline 738 to Trail Lake is sporadic to non-existent at best. I used GAIA to follow the old trail #156. Very steep, alot of side hilling and alot of down timber to jump over. Very doable but a tough bushwhack. Hint....(Stay at the higher elevation to avoid the alder brush)

@@brhino1017 Thank you for your first person perspective! Have wondered for years if the trail was still there at all. Do you you think it is would worth the effort to link into a loop hike in the area? Appreciate

Bushwhacked in from Stateline trail 738 about a month ago. Steep country. The trail going out felt like driving the Interstate. Two dudes from Wallace reported the fishing was slow. No wildlife to report.
