I'm surprised at how much the maker got into an Altoids type tin! But you come out far better by using the tins as unitised kits and not stand alones. One with a baby Bic, cotton, ferro etc, one with coffee/tea/bouillon/salt/candy, one fishing kit, one medicals. Anyone that has one can tell you that a Brit .303 canvas bandolier holds them nicely.

One thing I’m a little surprised by in the kits that are including pencils (and especially decent sized stubs of pencils) is the lack of inclusion of a handheld/pocket pencil sharpener. Pencil shavings are a great readymade tinder and why a kit creator wouldn’t avail themselves of granting the customer that opportunity with a pocket sharpener when they’re already including a pencil stub is actually a little confusing to me. Also, if you score the pencil sharpener (the plasticized bit feeding up to the blade of the sharpener) with a blade and slightly loosen a screw on the blade of the sharpener, you also can make a diy cordage cutter if you should happen to find a plastic bottle or something that you can slice up for cordage.
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
A pencil sharpener is a good idea making tinder with one is awesome. I don’t necessarily need a pencil sharpener to sharpen a pencil though. I don’t keep a sharpener at work with me while cutting lumber and whatnot, if my pencil gets dull I simply sharpen it with my knife. I do think it would be a cool addition to the kit though! I do like the idea of using it as a cordage cutter! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching I appreciate that a lot!

I dont like the idea of having to unwrap the snare wire to access the matches. It could result in loss or weakening due to wrapping unwrapping rolling up.
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
Yea I thought about that myself. It’s nice when it comes in a small roll. And the matches even in a bag is ok this is still a pretty creative kit. Not to bad at all
@dirtyscoundrel20133 ай бұрын
@@whitetailsurvival2430 no it's not bad. I think with creative packing a Mylar blanket could fit in there. As for the pencil stub I put small ones in my kits. You're not writing a novel out there it's a note or map or last will and testament leaving everything to your dog. No need for the big one most include. Look at the monstrosity in the Coghlan sardine tin

Wrap the case in paracord…

Absolutely that would open up a lot more space in the kit for other items great idea!

I dont understand. Why Chinese little knives, if el salvador condor / IMACASA sells to USA? Condor have some good low cost little knives.
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
Yea you’re right for sure there are better options. I’m a pinch it would work for sure but they probably are not as cheap for small bulk orders. I would be curious in my kit I put a ka-bar fixed blade but even that knife is China made but it was a reputable company that’s why I went with it. I only made 5 to sell to start
@JohnH-rd3xy3 ай бұрын
Availability and shipping. I can have China delivered in two days free of charge. El Salvador is $8 shipping and takes two weeks. I LOVE Imacasa machetes, especially their Marbles items, but shipping can often double the price.

30' of accessory cord. It's one inner strand paracord. The baby Bic and whistle that Steven suggested below. A teabag and packet of sugar. That's a pretty nice kit for its size! Surprised the Ebay guy got so much into it! Great review, Wts. Btw, what is your name? What should we call you? John here. Pleased to meet you and to have found your chan!
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
You can never go wrong with a bic that’s the best survival tool out there! I love that cordage also it’s pretty cool stuff! A teabag is also an awesome idea! I wouldn’t even mind a pack of instant coffee. Either one would do for me. My name is Brent if you would rather use my name rather than the channel tag I’m good with that! I’m happy you found my channel and you like the content I seriously appreciate that that! Thanks for watching and hopefully I see you in the comments on the next one! Thanks again John

Thoughtful kit---definitely a step above some of the commercial pocket tins, and worth the cost in my opinion for the effort that has gone into its assembly. If there was space (perhaps sacrificing the wire saw and one tinder tab) I might add a tiny aluminum whistle, foil, a packet of pure honey, repair tape patch, and jigsaw blade.
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
With the right amount of survival tin Tetris plus the removal of the items you said I don’t see why that wouldn’t fit. Thanks for the comment!

Good kit, I agree that a whistle should be added. Great knife much better than a razor blade. For a pocket kit in a tin it covers a lot of bases.
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
Absolutely I agree better knife and whistle for sure. This kit is pretty cool for what it is!

Don't think you got your moneys worth, no mirror, no whistle,and no instant coffee or tea bag, no foil. You need to make up your own pocket kit. For what you have spent on the kits you have shown on your program could put together a really great kit. Think about the 10 "C's" of survival. Container/, canteen, cordage, cover(tarp), combustion, cutting(knife/saw), candle(light), cargo tape, compass, cloth(bandana),closer(needle, pins),etc.

Thanks for the comment and view. I enjoy opening these things to show people. I have my own kits that I have made that I carry for every situation during the year. Hunting hiking fishing winter spring summer fall. I always at minimum keep my own last ditch kit with me I will eventually open my own kit on camera to show what I pack in mine. Without opening other company’s kits I don’t have too much content to make so spending the money on the kits isn’t a big deal to me as long as each video keeps getting a couple thousand views. Thanks again for watching and thanks for the comment!

He's not building one, though everyone SHOULD build their own, he's reviewing a marketed one so we can judge its worth to US. Most folks buy off the shelf and stash it and never consider ever using it. You and I and all of us here know how and what and why. Most 'normal' folks don't.

Thanks for posting the video! IMO, this kit has a lot to be desired, most of which have been addressed in comments. Best Glide survival kits are superior by far, again, IMO. Check Best Glide kits out! Well worth the time!

Those quart bags usually hold 2 quarts and sandwich bags hold 1 quart . I wouldn't have put the wiresaw or bigger light and used that money for a better mini light + another alcohol pad . The scalpel blade is good incase your knife gets dull . There are a lot of neat little items in this kit
@whitetailsurvival24303 ай бұрын
I have both bags at my house one is a quart bag and the other is a half gallon bag which is your two quarts but they are a lot wider than the one in this kit so I’m assuming it’s a 1 quart bag I will try it out when I test the kit before I use the purification tablets I do like to know how much water goes in it before I use the tablets. A better light would be awesome I have put Olight i3e lights in my kits this size they are awesome little lights! Thanks for the comment!
