Many years ago I bought a VW bug that was wrecked from a friend. The left front bent pretty good and tire would last about 180 miles. Hooked a chain to it and around a tree. Drank a few beers and crainked it up, had about 30 feet of slack in the chain between car and tree. Trick was not to go so fast as to rip the front axle out but to adjust. After about a case of beer between a good friend and myself and many adjustments I could get almost 10 thousand miles out of left front tire.

I think it’s time for some mobile home axles under that rig! I heard you can pick up a set for free, all you gotta do is head over to one ton Tanya’s trailer after dark and plow the meat field till she’s wore out, then you can climb under with a hot wrench and boogie with a couple heavy duty trailer axles! These Damn store bought trailers can’t even take a little bump in the woods, but those axles on one ton tanya’s rig have taken plenty more than that and they keep on rollin’ true!

You don't need straight axles.. Just replace the tire every ten miles and deal with broke down shot bearings every 30 miles. Do it the hard divorce way, that's the best way.

We used to have a dump trailer at work that had been so overloaded the wheels had probably 10 degrees of camber, the back axle had also been backed into something at some.ppint so those wheels pointed out. It would eat a couple tires every few thousand km 😅 ended up selling it when we found a fist sized hole in the tongue

Trailer axles are bowed down in the middle by design, you don't want them straight. The idea is that when the trailer is loaded the weight of the load on the axle pushes down on the bow causing it to potentially straighten if there's enough weight.

That would only apply if the load/pivot point was center of the axle. Most trailers have leaf springs mounted behind the hub. The majority of weight is distributed to the wheels and tires. My semi trailer has 8 inches of arch in the center, but the axels are straight.

Some trailer axels are not straight they have an arch in them

Yes some are arched so that when you put weight on them it flattens the axle. K In this case it was bent front to back Insteand of arched up and down. Front to back it should be perfectly straight. If it wasn't that would cause the axle alingment to be toed in or out both of which cause tire wear.
