The Cronulla riots started because an Arab attacked a lifeguard sticking up for a woman being harassed. Unfortunately, it attracted a violent mob of Anglo-Aussies willing to fight with anyone who looked middle eastern or Balkanese. Many Lebanese who weren’t even involved with the beating of the lifeguard were brutally chased by a group of racist thugs and a sea of fists and bottles! Moral of the story: is never do something dumb or offensive because you don’t know how the surrounding community will react

They lifeguard were off duty in plain clothes and were putting their hands all over some Muslim woman who was screaming to be left alone and that she was fine and her brothers in the faith came to the rescue. Nobody even knew if they were lifeguards or not.
