Don't teach them, I like stupid people, I have gotten so many good deals from idiots that play in mud, and even better deals from idiots that buy them and didn't test drive them or even look them over first, A little work and a few dollars on parts and I own another nice rig on the cheap.

Customer owned his mistake & has a heck of a story to go with it. Hats off to him. The service bill will be a lot cheaper than repairs down the road. That truck was really buried in. Good work & nothing broken is always a win. The thoughts from Rory are a good help. Whether working in sand & mud, to snow & ice, the recovery methods are universal. Thanks for sharing.

That's a great way to presoak a rig to make the dirt easier to move. It won't clean much, but it beats laying under a rig with a pressure washer trying to soak caked and dried mud with low volume 3000 psi water. It does make for a redneck mud bath though. I hear people pay for that at specialty spas these days.

I was 50 miles away in the backcountry when those storms came through. Just made sure I was camped and parked on high ground. Stayed put for a couple days before driving out so the roads were firm. Do not underestimate the flooding or mud out there!

Hot damn you're doing well with a truck that has the sometimes problematic 5.4. Good on you. Hope it continues to serve you well. I'm just a hobby mechanic and won't do plugs on those anymore. I got lucky a few times and won't test my luck further.

that first spot that you pointed at a jeep gladiator was stuck. It was a friend of ours. He went to get the Toyota out but ended up in the flood. It was crazy. The toyota owner took his keys with him so we couldnt get him out that day. It took my truck (1990 chevy lifted) jeep wrangler, and a bronco to get the gladiator out.

FYI: A helicopter dispatch in Utah can be extremely expensive. My niece injured her ankle bicycling near Moab. The helicopter was a 10 minute flight away and flew about 8 minutes back to Moab where she was taken to the hospital. The helicopter ambulance bill was over $60,000. Her insurance paid only $30k. She still is making monthly payments of about $250/month several years later.

In the last several years federal legislation passed that actually significantly reduces if not outright eliminates air ambulance costs for areas that air ambulance is a faster choice than by ground vehicle. The goal was to make all ambulance services free but it turned out that was way more complicated so it didn't happen.

Years ago I was watching Ice Road Truckers and a 1/2 ton pickup had broken through the ice, got stuck and was abandoned. One of the truckers, Darrell I think, used his truck to try and pull it out, but it frozen in. He ended up ripping the truck to pieces. And the frame and wheel were still stuck in the ice.
