Trailmater Offroad Recovery

Күн бұрын

Got a call for a Ford Raptor on Porcupine Rim with a broken tierod. The customer had new billet tierods at his house in Georgia so he had them over nighted. We then went up the following day to install them and get the rig out. Once we got the new parts installed we got the vehicle off the obstacle and turned around. He was then able to drive it back out the way he had came. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

@@TBR7Chronicles If you have IFS and you aren't carrying spare tie rods you should probably re-evaluate things. About the bottles, they are manufactured from smaller plastic bottle blanks or "preforms" and are heated and blow molded into the final shape. So I think when you heat them back up they have "memory" and want to shrink down again.

I sure miss mine. I had a ‘17 I put almost 200k on it before I got rear ended so hard they totaled it out. The new ones were just too much to justify buying again like over 90k I got lucky and got mine in 17 for 68k. It’s about as versatile of a truck you can get. Plays as well off road as it does on the Red Carpet! For me it was a work truck and a play truck. From frozen lakes in MN to ID mountains to the AZ desert, it never let me down. Then some ass hat ran into me between Phoenix and Sedona

Did you notice that Rory uses the Ultimate “One Wrench that Fits All” on all his jobs? That’s because he has used all his wrenches as decorations on the inside of his truck, ie. shift levers, and as decorations inside the truck. He forgot that he needed them on the trail. So if you feel sorry for him, he takes donated tools to replenish his tool bag. LOL! 😂😂😂

Hell if the guy has the money, let him have his fun as long as he's safe and respectful of the trails, passengers, and the people around him. But you are right that more capable rigs can be built for cheaper. That's not the boat everyone wants to float though, so I say let them burn the money and when it breaks it breaks. Their breakdowns are just way more expensive than our cheaper and often more capable rigs.
@WYO2K
@WYO2K Жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-ev1sm Every time you see a Jeep on the highway it's obvious that Jeeps don't belong on the highways. At least this guy can drive his Raptor at high speeds. If it's any distance at all Trailmater has to be trailered to where they are going. A Raptor is just a tool that is great on the roads and pretty good off roads. There is no perfect vehicle for everything.
@JohnSmith-ev1sm
@JohnSmith-ev1sm Жыл бұрын
@@WYO2K We're not talking highway though, are we? We're talking about going offroad where the raptor is supposed to be able to function better than simple trucks; and yet its performance is abysmal compared to simple old school trucks and jeeps that are purpose built. I didn't mention anything about perfect trucks, just that if you're buying the raptor to do what the marketing would have you believe its capable of, you're wasting your money; better off building something. All these YT guys like matts offroad and fabrats show the same thing.

I've been using the Harbor Freight soft shackles for about a year now and I gotta say, I really like it, it's never failed! ! Just picked up the winch rope, some of the best products they have at HF, Just put it like this, if Rory is using it, it has to be good, or as we know from watching the videos, he wouldn't use it if it was a POS, and something I noticed here at the Hempstead Long Island HF , they lock up some knives/possible weapons, but leave the 5$ machetes out? But after going a few weeks ago, they have started locking them up as well, but you can still get at the Axe 🪓 and other possibilities 😅 it's the Hood so nothing would surprise me! I was there a few months ago and a crackhead ran off with an expensive table saw! A tow truck driver gave chase and beat the crap out of the crackhead and brought it back, they don't mess around in the NY ghettos! And not for nothing, the raptor, that front end is a joke! 😢 expensive garbage 🗑

I have a ‘23 Raptor and I don’t think I would every take it on many Moab obstacles. It’s just not well designed for crawling in multiple ways. It does great here on Texas dirt roads! You guys do awesome work, as usual 👍

Many years ago we were sitting up in the parking lot at the top of the Shafer Trail. “Man, my ‘88 Suburban is 4-wheel drive. Honey, let’s do this!” Ok, our trailer was parked at a campground in Green River. Our kids were young, but we had lots of water. “Nope”, she says. “What’s the worst thing that can happen?” Probably saved the marriage with my next decision. :-)))

It makes me smile how these big Ford Raptor trucks are all big & intimidating on the street but on a trail they look like a fragile little princess.

Rory I admire how you reuse the old ropes and find a way to make them stronger. I am definitely getting old because I wouldn't take an expensive truck like that on trails. You know you will get damage and you need to make sure u have clearance for going over obstacles. Expensive vehicles are made for luxury and they aren't made for off road stuff. Just my opinion

I did that trail in 2011, I'll never do it again. Trails nice but the rude arrogant bike riders makes you want to not stop for them. That rapter just about got bit by the Trailmater. The only wild animal to watch out for. How did Shawn get a Mike button to come lock the hubs. A devious and very useful tool, well done Shawn.

You should try it at 10-11 o’clock at night. Really peaceful & quiet. 😅😅

I think those Raptors would make really good rock-crawlers with a few upgrades, but they're stupid expensive,🙄, I'm guessing they're well over six-digits nowadays,😆, (Not-I-Said-The-Fly), thanks for sharing guys.
