Als oud machinist vind ik dit prachtig om te zien, heb zelf in de begindagen van de HSL en de Betuwe lijn, vele testritten.gedaan. Ik behorende bij een groep machinisten van Ralion die alleen infra werk deden, ik had wegbekendheid heel Nederland en Belgie tot en met Mechelen, wij deden ook werk voor de aannemers, ik vond dit veel afwiselend dan RSD-ZL of Roosendaal amsterdam, voordat ik met pensioen ging werd Ralion (het vroegere NS goederen) overgenomen door de DB wat voor mij er goed uit kwam, de duitsen vonden dat ik maar beter met pensioen kon geen anderhalf jaar eerder met behoud van mijn salaris en pensioen premie tot mijn 65. Het was wel tijd we moesten alles zelf doen, we waren niet alleen machinist, maar ook rangeerder en wagenmeester, en altijd s'nachts en in het weekend en starten ergens in Nederland, ook hebben we nog wat maanden in Italie gewerkt voor Structon. Ik heb een geweldige tijd gehad, maar er is zoveel veranderd in 1980 bij het spoor gekomen en in Roosendaal duurde het toen gemiddeld 5 tot 6 voordat je passagiers treinen mocht rijden.Stefan bedankt voor de films en ik houd mijn wegbekendheid op peil, al word meer Oja dat is daar en daar.

Hi Matt! 😁😁 Thank you so much. And if it's your fourth visit you must really like the Dutch. The lights in de video are warning construction workers a train is coming from the opposite direction of the lights. This because they can't see the train coming because of the bridge in this case. 😁

The engine whine sounds cool. The ride looked smooth, probably just your good driving... Seems to accelerate and decelerate, faster than most of the older stock. I can't wait to actually get to be a passenger on this train. But I will have to wait until they start running via Hollands Spoor, unless I can perhaps catch one at Rotterdam. SNG to Rotterdam and then ICNG, just like the intro day was.

Yeah the sound of the engines is really nice! 😁😁😍 And indeed. The train is pretty strong. Unfortunately the criteria while slowing down under ATB is also set pretty high. A thing that can be improved if you ask me. 😁 A little more patience. Spring 2023 is hopefully the introduction on the tracks with passengers. 😍

Now we must wait for some more trains to be delivered to The Netherlands. We hope to keep the first trains running with passengers Spring 2023. Implementing new trains is always a challenge. Especially with all the software we use nowadays.

@@MachinistStefan alstom is echt betrouwbaar want ze hebben ten slotte de 1100,1300(die jij natuurlijk als museumloc kent) ,1600,1700,1800 en de TGV's waaronder de Thalys stellen die je op de HSL vaak tegen komt geleverd en sinds de overname van Bombardier door alstom zijn de traxx locs nu ook in principe een alstom product

Images come from my old camera. I always use the wide view on my camera. My new camera gives better views in this setting. Although of course the sides of the video will always be a little curved. About 65% of my channel voted for this setting. More to see than the narrow view. 😁😁👌

Wat een mooi geluid als je optrekt. Trekt ook snel op. Van binnen ziet het er ook mooi uit. Je was heel in je element Stefan. 200 km best hard voor Nederlandse begrippen. Prachtig rit 👍 Ikheb erg van genoten. Dankjewel. Tot volgend jaar.

Op trajecten over conventioneel spoor ligt de maximale snelheid op 140km/u. Dit doordat we in Nederland op te zachte bodem rijden.

Ja klopt! Hij trekt heel snel op vanuit stilstand. Vooral onder de 1,5kV erg sterk afgesteld. Benieuwd of dit nog aangepast wordt voor de introductie. Fijne jaarwisseling! 😁😁

Deze werkt alleen met 1,5kV en 25kV. Dus laten we dat maar niet testen. Dat laten we aan de Belgische variant over. 😁😁

Seeing people walking towards train when doors opened had me wondering if anyone tried to get on? I assume staff were there just in case. The ICM is my favourite train in the Netherlands but the ICNG looks like a promising replacement. I really hope the railway museum restores an example of the ICM to the Koploper.

Hi there! Correct! To test the trains doors we open them on the blind side of the train. The doors on the platform side remain closed. 😁😁 I'm certain the museum will get one of the ICM trains. An icon like that can't fade that easily. 😁

Beautiful new Trains you've got there! We swiss and you dutch's are both heavily dependant on the System being topnotch and wellkept! Congrats! But: Why are there double Overheadwires? Is that some Sort of Redundancy/Safetypolicy? As a swiss Boy I'm used to Railways, but all of them only have one single Wire on the usual 1-Phase System. There are however a few Oddities like the Jungfraubahn, featuring two separate Wires 80cm apart with two narrow Pantographs, as it runs on a 2-Phase System.

Hi Samuel! Thanks. 😁😁 The double wires on the 1500V DC lines are there be use of the high amperage that needs to go through the lines. The lower the voltage the higher the amparage needed to achieve the same power for the train (up to 4000A under 1500V DC). Under 25.000V AC only 500A is needed to get the same power from the motors. Therefor only one wire is needed.

@@MachinistStefan Interesting, I would've never guessed that. 1'500V seems incredibly low voltage for a Trainsystem! The swiss federal Railway SBB and all others that use Standard Gauge use 15'000V AC with a very low Frequency of 16.7Hz The same System is also used by Austria, Germany, Sweden and Norway. All Standard Gauge Railways here are connected and also use eachothers Rails and Stations. But we also have alot of Meter Gauge and 80cm Gauge Railways too, which use several different, sometimes even their own Systems😂 Loco's who travel to Italy had to be changed at the Border in old Times, todays Loco's have several Pantograps, which they change according to the System used. The differencies are then managed by the electronics inside the Loco.

A poli-voltage Alstom Coradia. We use the 3 kv DC version for local services here in Italy only on con conventional lines limited to 160 km/h. It would be interesting to see how quiet this version can be for passengers at full speed. Thank you for this great detailed video 🙂 However, i have a question: since it will run on a hsl, why did dutch railways chose a 200 km/h Coradia trainset instead a 250 km/h? (Something like Giruno for exemple)

Hi there! :D Yeah, such a nice train to drive in. During my summer holidays I also traveled with the Italian version. Really nice train as well! I think the reason why NS choose for the 200km/h version is because there are a lot of extra costs when it comes to driving on 250km/h. The train needs more systems on board for air pressure etc And the 50km/h extra won't make a big difference in our small country. Even when Thalys departs ahead of us in Schiphol (300km/h on the HSL), we'll meet it again at Rotterdam while we now travel at 160km/h with TRAXX. :D For the longer distances (Londen, Paris and further) it makes a better difference of course. :)

Correct! But that train literally fell apart. It took the Italian many years before they could finally bring them in service in their own country after The Netherlands returned the complete order or V250's.

@@MachinistStefan ik ga als vakantiefietser vaak naar frankrijk en Duitsland en daar is 25kv veel gebruikt. Wordt nog een flinke klus om in NL alles naar 25kV te krijgen maar is wel nodig

Nederland gaat niet over op 25kV. Als de spanning hier al wordt verhoogd zal dit naar 3000V DC gaan. Zoals in België.

The new IC trains look really cool, I would kill to be able to drive one of them, but, I'm curious, what's all the bells and whistles going on, especially in the Schiphol tunnel?

Hi there! Thanks! 😁😁 The whistling is me. The bells you hear are the signals coming from the ATB safety system. One single bell means there's an new speed valid. Three bells mean a lower speed has been reached after slowing down.

Hey Stefan, Jij ook de best wensen! Ik heb Al een tijdke niet meerbgekeken, maar deze video vroeg toch even om aandacht. Leuk om een inkijkje te krijgen! Hier in het mooie Zuiden draaien ze amper proefritten helaas. En ook fijn day de handelingen op de HSL nu grotendeels geautomatiseerd zijn.Behalve het geoot licht dan, dat valt me toch tegen 😜. Ga lekker door zo en wie weet zien we elkaar binnenkort wel weer eens toevallig 👋.

Ha Axel! Nou, welkom terug aan boord. Genoten van je eerste rit op de ICNG? In Eindhoven komen ze nog niet idd. Maar dat gaat straks ook komen. ICNG zal straks ook op de lijn Den Haag - Eindhoven gaan rijden. Nog even geduld. 😁👌 In een normale situatie schakelt de ICNG idd alles zelf om. Erg fijn. Dan de machinist zich weer volledig op de baan focussen. Hopelijk tot snel. Happy New Year! 😁

Nice. This thing almost runs through my back yard. Not too closely thankfully, but the Traxx trains made an awful lot of noise; I'm glad that they're being phased out. The new trains are so much quieter. Also nice to see the new style of power transmission towers (on the left @43:15), they look so much cleaner than the old "Eiffel tower" style towers.

Zit ik al een poos naar te kijken. Maar ik vind de overlay van GoPro niet heel fijn werken. GPS is niet altijd betrouwbaar en in tunnels of op stations valt hij sowieso geheel weg. Werk in uitvoering dus.

Hi Stefan WOW! what a super train love it the train seems to have a more faster acceleration. and you don't even have to press buttons to lower/higher pantographs as this train does it all for you. the seating interior Stefan are the seats leather? as, on the trains were I work the only seats that are leather are the first class. the second class are all cloth seats and the floors have carpets throughout the units the train of the future has arrived. again thank you for all the terrific videos and your latest video is a new beginning. take care and have a safe and happy new year.

@@MachinistStefan Roughly, its like this: If (e.g.) electric it's a "motor". If it's by combustion it's an engine (as in "petrol engine", "diesel engine", "steam engine", "gas turbine engine"...). Then there's also the confusing use of "engine" for the separate traction unit pulling (or pushing) wagons/carriages in a train. It could be an electric engine, a diesel (or diesel-electric) engine, or a steam engine.. The english language can be confusing, I know! I am assuming the train in this video has no such separate engine at all, but electric motors distributed throughout the carriages. It's an "electric multiple unit" (an "EMU"). Anyway - it's a new and shiny beauty. I wish you many happy runs with it!

Conclusive test, I guess since you have won 3 mn. at BREDA All this is very good,but I will continue to think that it is a pity that the speed of fast trains is limited due to the condition of the ground. Hi Javier! :D Pleasure is all mine! The time schedule isn't the same as we use in the passenger service for the test rides. Also we left Rotterdam early as well instead of waiting for a few minutes. In totaal it will be 4-5 minutes faster with this train compared to the TRAXx locomotives. HSL speeds are allowed until 300km/h. But those speeds are only used by the trains to Paris and London. For those long distance it matters. For our domestic trains we should invest a lot more in our trains to get to those speeds for very less win in travel time. Since our country is very small. ;)

@@MachinistStefan it's the consultation that bothers you. We would at least what the travelers who take IC 2 to 3 times a veek think to go either Eindhoven, Arnhem, Breda, Gronningen. In my humble opinion the answer will be very clear. - more modern trains, A.new IC will be in service soon - regular trains. This is not the case in the Netherlands. Some rides pleasantly surprised me. - more services in the IC - and why not 10 to 15 mn less for Eindhoven and Gronningen. BREDA has the HSL. It's all Stefan..

ICNG is first implemented on the HSL. Amsterdam - Breda and Den Haag - Eindhoven vv. After that ICNG will also replace ICM. So it will be running towards Eindhoven and Groningen as well. NS and ProRail want to drive more trains in de future (at least every 10-15 minutes on most lines). But at the moment we don't even have enough staff for the normal train service. Therefor we run about 13% less trains right now. More trains between city's is what we would also like. But for that you need enough infrastructure as well. The lines to the North Provinces are packed at the moment. For mor train Meppel must first be given more tracks. That's a political decision that must be made.

ICNG gaat uiteindelijk ICM vervangen. Dus hoogstwaarschijnlijk ook daar ja.
