Lovely little haul of Goodies there Oscar. I have to admit my "hard limit" for the time period and things I collect often becomes very flexible when I see something I like at the right price. 🤣 Im also in that camp that gets a little more enthusiastic about the boxes these vintage items come in than most people do. I often find it amazing that these cardboard items have survived. So they deserve their place in the limelight. 😊

Hi, thanks for looking in my collecting period has definitely got blurred edges now there was a point a long time ago now! where I had no intention of collecting items with mk2 couplings or anything after 1972. Great to hear you enjoyed the look over the packaging. All the best. Oscar

Interesting to hear about the Primary series. In the mid 1960s my father brought home a couple of coaches just like yours, though I think they were green. No glazing. I remember they came with a steeple cab loco with dummy pantograph. Thanks for reminding me of those models.

Hi Douglas, great to hear you enjoyed the video and that you had some of these coaches as a child. There was a set in the late 50s called R.PC with exactly exactly the models you described. www.tri-ang.co.uk/rpcset.html Take care. Oscar

Super video Oscar, some really fabulous items there. Wonderful footage from the TCS show. I think the Western Harrier and the those Esso tank wagons are wonderful, and like you say right at the end of the period of models that, like yourself, I like to collect. Regards, Antony.

Good morning Oscar, it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire again. What a lovely video. The model railway exhibition was amazing, I wish I could have been there myself. Very interesting to see how many different layouts there was at the exhibition. You came away from the exhibition with a lot of lovely items. The box with the spare locomotive parts was very interesting interesting as was the locomotives and wagons and the various boxes are very interesting as well. Thank you again for another great video Oscar, it is really appreciated with all the work you do to make your videos. Well, as always it's time for my tea and toasted tea cake. Keep safe Oscar, have a good week ahead and i will see you next Sunday. 👍🚂

Morning Oscar Another great video especially with the inclusion of the TCS show at Leicester just three weeks ago. The TCS event is a firm favourite of mine and is always clearly marked on my calendar ! Being an O gauge collector I was delighted to see that you had captured on video the new prototype ACE Trains EM1 electric locomotive in early BR black lined livery hauling a rake of coal wagons! You seem to have obtained quite a haul of goodies from the show and I especially look forward to seeing your new Class 52 ‘Western’ diesel hydraulic locomotive in your future videos.

Hi Oscar, I have to drool a bit looking at that haul? I have never ever found a set of island canopies for sale, (or even seen any up close).. I always knew that it was the same canopy as used on the Ticket office by studying the early catalogues.. I would have to stick them to the platform if I ever find any, as my 'older' platforms are mostly a bit warped and wobbly to just 'sit' them on?? The Baltic Tank is another one that I love to see.. I have an acetate one to restore .. Had it for years, but never gotten around to finishing the restoration? One day? ? My Grandson recently obtained a Jinty, with a Baltic tank headlight, I think it is another "Tri-ang oddity"? I enjoyed the visit to the show .. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.. Great video as usual and full of interest for us 'old collectors' to gaze at (longingly).. The box of spare items will nodoubt be very useful? (I often only seem to find the broken bits that they are raided from), but now and then, the 'good bits' pop up? Thanks for sharing .. Rob.

Good morning Rob I was quite pleased with the box and bits and pieces. A number of them have already been put to good use. I really enjoyed seeing those larger gauge items running and very relaxing to stand and watch them running around. I'm sure that I've seen pictures in Pat Hammond's book of a Jinty produced in Australia/Moldex with a headlamp ahead of the funnel, hopefully this afternoon I'll have time to dig it out the book and have a look. Thanks again for taking the time to look in. Oscar

@@oscarpaisleyawaiting your confirmation, but the Jinty with headlight does turn up from time to time in Australia. I have one bought very cheaply but non working. In the Australian supplement catalogue leaflet for just a few years up to about 1964 or so. Next year the headlight ditched. Far more common to see a large headlight on all Australian locomotives except pure shunting engine. So Triang trying to look more Australian cheaply for local production.

Hello Oscar. It was really great to see you again at the TCS meeting. As you now know I wasn't feeling my best that day but it was still a great way to wrap up my 2024 holiday. I am glad you have found uses for the box of bits, I think that will turn out to be a treasure trove in the coming years. You also picked up some marvelous items of rolling stock. Being at the end of my trip I had little room to spare in my suitcase so I limited myself to buying bits and pieces rather than anymore rolling stock. I came away very happy. The Kitmaster parts you gave me are going to be most useful as will the smoke unit parts, thank you. I enjoyed seeing the Primary series stock running on your layout today. I wonder how many of those little 0-4-0's ever got such a layout to run on? I just had to go and do my best to replicate your train. I have a later 0-4-0 in the SDJR livery and two coaches like yours. The coaches came to me without bogies but the Kitmaster ones fit and run beautifully. Thank you for yet another great video today. Regards, David.

Morning Oscar, very interesting video again. Been looking for a couple of the items you got at the TCS show myself especially Hagley hall and the early red station buildings, and also those maroon Primary coaches. lovely stuff. You mention recalling a catalogue picture of a train of the 4 wheel Esso tank wagons. You are not mistaken, I just happened to have the 1975 catalogue to hand, there on pages22/23 is a long train hauled by the LNER green B12. It appears to be hauling 2 trains, nearest the loco are 3 Bannockburn & 2 NER coke wagons plus the short NE brake van, then additionally 12 Esso tanks and another NE brake van. Obviously these Esso tanks are the earlier version with central ladders on the tanks but no retaining straps. I think this picture may also have been used in the 1974 catalogue as well, not go that one to hand. Thanks for another entertaining start to Sunday, regards to you and Roberta from Rob & Sue in Gloucester.

Hi Oscar, just got 2 maroon primary coaches recently off eBay bid for 99p + postage, I've got some station buildings in the brown and there not suffering from any distortion, maybe different plastic or ascetate, anyway great footage and thanks for sharing, John

Good morning John those coaches sound like a good find, Great to hear you have some of those buildings in the Brown colour, being that colour they are slightly later then the red buildings and will in general have been made of a plastic, which is more stable than the earlier cellulose acetate. Thanks for looking in. Oscar

Hi Oscar, Aladdin’s cave now very well stocked and that crate of spares/goodies is something else, hours of endless fun. I do remember the Primary series charging round a small oval or circle, fond memories. It sounds like the Baltic might give the old R.59 a run for its money. I know what you mean about the boxes, that blast of red and yellow behind the counter is never forgotten. The TV ad for the R.100 signal box is a great example but riding home with it balanced on the handlebars was a bit iffy. 👍Gordon

There's one type of rolling stock I don't see on your railway, Triang never created it: Christmas Open Wagons. Can you possibly run your own version of a Santa Special train? Christmas is on the horizon.
