Train Real World - Waterloo International on South Western Railway

Up until a couple of years ago I spent six years staying in digs in Bracknell. The last two years were spent travelling between Bracknell and site at Kew Bridge or between Kew Bridge and home on the Isle of Wight on Monday morning/Friday evening. With the advent of the new trains which are standard class only, first class are declassified (previously it did operate with first and standard class) on this line so you could have sat in there. I am now on a different project and have moved house so my daily train journey is between Lea Bridge and Stratford (Greater Anglia) and my Monday/Friday home to work journey is also on EMR all the way to Sheffield!

3:25 - The Metrolink in Manchester had those style of machines for years! More or less how you described it, had like a lift styled panel with the stations along the top and the type of ticket on the bottom. Each button you pressed there was an audible click and the price would appear on a LCD Strip. Yet the machine would protest if you made a wrong selection... I have many happy memories as a young child, trying to make the machine misbehave! The machines were removed after the Eccles Line extention but the same system for selecting a station on the newer ticket machines remained for a while until the zonal system was introduced. There were something like 3000 different combinations of travel at it's peak.

In the 1970's you could get a train from Bracknell to Waterloo that took about 35 minutes Now it is slower than in the 1930's,

@@MegaSim On the hour trains from Reading and Guildford would couple up at Ascot and stop at stations to Staines then fast to Waterloo. On the half hour the train from Reading would leave Ascot non-stop to Staines then Waterloo. The one from Guildford would be the stopping train, but still faster than now.

I used to Martin Hereon last year the. I moved to Hampshire. The ascot line it goes as far as Aldershot then the train goes up to Guildford to make the return trip to ascot via Aldershot

I love how you said Bracknell isn't very nice anymore. I think the opposite. It used to be a complete dump. At least now it has a whole new shopping centre. I think it's much better.

The centre is kind of better, but full of chain shops instead of independents. But it’s the housing, they are putting places up EVERYWHERE. Wherever there is a bit of Green, we’ll it’s gone now 😕

One of your most perplexing Train Real World videos? Got confused on a number of occasions: lack of variety - yes agreed there is in UK routes on TSW... passing an AI train with rear reds showing on the front - he's talking about TSW again;-)

I would love that, I personally would love them to add Waterloo to Windsor and Reading via Richmond and Hounslow as that would be a mega route with lots of services and different routes
