@Brian39896 ай бұрын
It is only a recent clean up and paint job that makes the Great Malvern station look so grand. Picturesque old town, but you have to remember it is built on side of a ridge of hills. There used to be a train service from Southhampton or Bournemouth via Bristol Parkway to Malvern. Not checked if it still runs.

One heck of a climb, isn't it? Lovely area, though! And a lovely line, though it actually gets more scenic beyond Great Malvern, lovely station thought that is! After leaving Great Malvern, the line tunnels under the hills and emerges at Cowell, in Herefordshire, which some say is a beter station for walking the hills. Then it's on through Ledbury, a lovely station where I happily spent nearly an hour a few months back, after just missing a train!

Indeed a lovely railway station in Great Malvern, Gloucestershire. It actually dates from the days of the Great Western Railway(GWR), which was the railway company on the way to the 'English Riviera' in Cornwall. The details regarding that are certainly around, for example the benches.

Great video, thanks! It looks like a beautiful town. The Ben Nevis climb is just over 4 times that climb in elevation.
