A couple of quick points related to this video: 1. I attempted to record the video in 60fps, as I can average about 60fps when driving. However, when recording, it seems the average was between 45-60fps, which means the frame rate can appear slightly jarring at times. 2. At the end of the video, I mentioned a Class 08 shunter, when I should have said a Class 09 shunter. 3. As with the Medway Valley route, I provided all the information on crossing names that was available to me, but you will notice a number of crossings which were not labelled as there were no names for them in the track atlas. 4. I didn't forget to activate the AWS, I just didn't realise there were two switches for it! It's not quite so important on this route anyway, as most preserved railways have no such thing as AWS. Finally, I hope you enjoy watching this video! :)

By the way to measuring weight, metric tons, it is called kilograms, so use the word kilograms, tones are the imperial
@PTGRail6 жыл бұрын
1000kg = 1 Tonne. That’s the correct term. :)
@jrhall89706 жыл бұрын
Wow I didn’t know that, thanks 😀
@newforestroadwarrior6 жыл бұрын
An English imperial ton is 2240 pounds (approximately 1016kg) whereas a US ton is 2000lb (approximately 916kg). If (or perhaps when) confusion may occur, they should be referred to as the long ton and short ton respectively. This can become very relevant if you are importing anything to Europe or China from the States. Speaking from experience, importing into China is notoriously hard work (especially dealing with politically-appointed local officials with no apparent education): one of their favorite tricks is to stop shipments on the basis that the weight is incorrect.

Great video as always Pete, thank you. DTG have done an excellent job of the route but alas its let down by the smoothest track in the world or fantastic suspension. The noise insulation is very good as well! Hopefully they will sort this out in the very near future, they got it right in Train Simulator but for some reason forgot to add it to TSW. Looking forward to more of your videos in the future.

U always have good small talk on your routes about trips - childhood memories - i was wondering has there ever been a time were u were on a train and the bad weather (affording you no scenery to look at as you say you like) forced you to focus more on what was happening on board and in doing so did you/have you found some amazing people you have met while sitting in your seat or at the trains restaurant and or bar??? Maybey people that have suck with you?? or conversations thta have stuck with you????

I've been very pleasantly surprised by the performance improvements both this and the previous DLC (New York). With the initial launch of TSW and subsequently GWE, I really struggled to maintain 60fps even when dropping to 1080p, the newer DLCs seem to have introduced some significant performance improvements, 4k@60fps is now more than achievable on my modest system.... Now I just need to stop looking at the beautiful scenery and pay attention to driving!
@PTGRail6 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I was surprised at how well this route performs compared to Heavy Haul and Great Western. I don’t have a 4K screen, so can’t test it at such high resolutions yet.

Great work as usual mate! I have a couple of questions though: I keep having the icons turned on in order to see the speed limit and the distance of the stations. How do you remember all the speed limits? Do you memorise these? Apart from that, say in GWR when you are travelling with 125mph am I the only one that I find it impossible to spot and read the speed limits on the signs? How is done in real life?
@PTGRail6 жыл бұрын
I first drive with the HUD on to learn the route, making notes on the landmarks, speed changes, braking points etc. Then drive the route again with the HUD off to perfect my driving. Then finally drive the route a third time to do the recording! In real life, the driver would know exactly where the speed signs are, even if they’re difficult to read.
@thessalonician6 жыл бұрын
I thought so! Thanks for your reply. It's impressive though to memorise in real life all these for a route. In the meanwhile I'm about to run the WSR for the first time. Enjoy the bank holiday mate.

Great work as usual! As someone who's played a fair bit of TS2018 but never touched TSW yet, what are the main differences between the two? I love the look of the graphics engine for TSW, looks much more crisp and smooth than TS2018. :)
@PTGRail6 жыл бұрын
TSW looks better, but so far has far less content available, and I feel it’s not as immersive. Nor is it currently customisable in any way, unlike TS. I currently prefer TS because I can do so much more with it, but look forward to seeing where the TSW project goes.

Where do you see speed restrictions so you can judge your braking? By the time you see the yellow speed posts it's too late. Is it just the case of learning the route with the HUD? 🤔
