I finally watched Terrifier 2 last night. Looking forward to watching your takes on its intense graphic violence. I need to watch Terrifier 3, I heard its actually MORE intense. Talk to Me, another gem of a horror movie. Such an intriguing take on the supernatural genre. A24 excellence. The Shining(1980) is just so ominous, dreadful, and atmospheric. Great lineup. Lots to look forward to.

The sister of the granny opened the door because she lost faith in humanity. She was pissed because her sister spent her whole life being good to others “like an idiot”, when those others were the ones who didn’t let her in at the end and got her killed. It just solidified her belief that humanity isn’t worth saving, which is why she did that. A lot of non-Korean speakers miss this when they watch the movie.

I don’t care if they got brought into the fear by the stallion guy.. they represent the worst of humanity.. they were willing to let all those others die on top of treating them like lepers afterward .. best believe I’d open that door and not feel one ounce of shame

This movie is fantastic, probably my favorite zombie movie. And my favorite series about zombies is also a Korean show called "Kingdom" which has a really cool different lore of how the zombie outbreak happened, it's also set in ancient times in Joseon Dynasty so people are fighting them with swords. It's a great story it's a horror, mystery, drama, political thriller (kinda reminds me of early seasons of Game of Thrones in that regard) and it has wonderful cinematography on beautiful locations. I can't recommend Kingdom enough it's super underrated.

The comment you didn't say, it's like World War Z, is accurate. Many directors/writers who know zombie movies, reference them. Another example in this movie is the final scene with the gun at the very end. That is a direct reference to, Night of the Living Dead (the first zombie movie, the one that invented them) - I won't say how it's a reference because it's a major spoiler for that movie. - It's supper funny to me that people think this is "stealing" when it's actually acknowledging that they DIDN'T come up with a new concept and, in fact, showing that they know that it wasn't their idea and are giving credit rather than trying to claim it's a new concept (it really irritates me when people pretend something isn't derivative when it is - but I guess some people like to pretend there wasn't a whole world (and millennia of it) that existed before them or want to think about how the choices and ideas of others in the past have influenced them and their thinking).

28:04 i get the COO's concern. The trope of someone being secretly bitten and turning after rejoining the safe group has been played out in tons of zombie movies, but if that group was able to fight their way through several cars filled with zombies and managed to survive, they're warriors and i would want them on my team. i'd rather let them all in and thoroughly inspect them. if none are bitten, we can keep some brave and competent people with us, maybe we can survive longer. 32:40 i think the elder sister granny stayed to buy the others just a bit more time since she must feel so weak and thought she'd be too slow to reach the safe car and that might risk one of them getting in with the door still open. if she didn't sacrifice herself, perhaps one zombie could've made it through the door. if the selfish mob had just opened it earlier, they could've all survived and that made younger sister granny lose faith in humanity, or at least the humanity of the mob she's left with.

There's A LOT of mistranslations in the movie (just caught one as I'm writing this, baseball player says he's 181 cm - 6' tall, not 5'9", shaving off 3 inches??), 'that bitch' by dying grandma on the phone (she actually said 'you rotten bastards' referring to the zombies), she must have flunked school by the jerk COO (he said she must have not studied hard herself), centerpiece of our plan (that YS biotech we went out of our way to save!), on and on and on...
