On this Train Tuesday, we talk about the Athearn HO Ford F850 grain truck and the Athearn Roundhouse 50' Double-Deck HO Auto-Loader.
Ford built the fifth generation F850 from 1967 - 1979 and the Athearn model is based on a 1968 although only subtle changes to the fifth-generation body occurred through its life span which means this Ford F850 grain truck will look great on any layout or module from 1968 to present day. This HO scale truck makes a great addition to your HO scenic display if you're building a layout in the 1960s.

The Athearn Roundhouse 50ft Auto-Loader is largely based on the experimental Evans 6 - Car Auto Loader of 1954. Evans built two cars, one for the New York Central and the other for Union Pacific. While both models varied slightly in design, they both featured heavy vertical corner posts as well as an additional vertical member on either side. Both featured a hinged ramp on one end, allowing access to the upper deck. True to its name, the freight car could hold six full size automobiles. The New York Central car, #500085, was seen the most as it was used more often in publicity photos. The car never went any further however than experimental status and it is safe to say more Athearn HO versions have been produced. For this run, we are offering this classic from the past now with improved painting and printing, metal wheel sets and McHenry couplers.
