Train your Aim! Aiming Drill Live (Black Ops 2 Improve your Accuracy)

I'll be the first to admit, my accuracy used to be terrible. After using this drill for a while, I've managed to feel a lot more confident in my shots even though I'm still working at it. I hope you guys try this out and I really hope it will help improve your aim. Just like with anything you're trying to improve at, practice and repetition is key. Make sure you keep practicing and the accuracy will eventually come naturally.
If you want to focus even more on your accuracy then play combat training against recruit bots and make it 4-5 kills per magazine. This way you can focus %100 one your aim and you don't need to worry about lag or playing against players that don't allow you to take a bit of time to aim.

Tantalus Agreed. However, if you play a lot, chances are you will get better (muscle memory, decision making etc.). Recognizing your mistakes and correcting them will make you better as well. If you see your own mistakes and know how to correct them, you're on the way to become an even better player.

I just tried this out for 10 matches, and boy was it actually fun and challenging. I'm horrible with reloading after every kill, but thanks to trying this out, I was ready to kill even faster, obviously (yes, it's an accuracy challenge, but it's a reloading challenge for me, yet it still helped with my accuracy). It also made me so much more cautious over the gunfights I chose to engage and how to engage them.

A lot of it is psychological but of course there is a certain amount of hand eye coordination and ability to handle a controller. If you limit your shots in this drill you force yourself to make a conscious effort to aim well. Most of the time, people focus entirely on speed and forget about hitting every shot because they have an automatic gun with 30+ rounds to spare. When you practice your aim over and over, then the speed will come and you'll also have great aim.

This puts less focus on aim and more focus on score and objective play. The drill is designed to isolate aim and focus all of your attention on it until it becomes habit. Throw score into the equation and you may only need one or two kills with 30 bullets and that doesn't help your aim at all because it allows you to play sloppy.

Another good exercise to do that many people don't consider is bot training. Throw a ffa recruit vs. 11 bots and rush the bots trying to clean them all out as fast as possible. By rushing, you are forced to kill them very fast and you also develop your twitch aim at the same time. You can make this harder by limiting yourself to certain guns, etc.

This is why it may be better to stick to an assault rifle or smg. Although, if you use an LMG and budget 7-10 rounds per kill like you're doing then you're still going to improve. You'll just miss out on a lot of those pressure situations where you only have 5 or 6 rounds left to get that last kill.

I can definitely see how this would help to get that very important first shot on target. Snipers do behave very differently though so I'd recommend trying this with a full auto gun because you need to not only land your first shot, but also the next 3-4 without spraying all over.

Old guy here trying to not alwways be the one that my son and his bros rack up their kills on. My main issue with aim is I find myself pointing upward or pushing down on the right analog stick so I'm stabing instead of aiming. Practice match vs. the bots is helping.Thanks!

I usually run a 6 to 7 sensitivity, works great with ARs and shotguns, not as accurate with LMGs really but combined with the adjustable stock, it's near perfect with accuracy. I must try this method now, thanks Ace!

Drif0r's method is great for making you think about every shot you take but it doesn't train you to handle the recoil of a full auto weapon and it doesn't train you to hit multiple, consecutive shots while firing full auto

While this is true and it could work if you're a good SnD player, drills are all about repetition so you begin to do the drilled behavior automatically. The more repetition the better so I think getting 20-30 kills in domination or TDM while doing this drill is more helpful than 5-10 in SnD.

Yeah its definitely a great method, so thanks for sharing. And it works great by the way. Just that when I'm on search I'm always proper squeaky. Seem to do better on search than in a normal game, I think playing conservatively is the key to it all and it really helps get you a better game.

Agreed, In hardcore, with a great accurate shot, you will be putting down guys (or girls) with a few rounds rather than let's say an average of 10-15 rounds per target.

This may not be a good idea with the vector because at range it can take up to seven shots to get a kill. I guess if you keep everything up close it would be fine though

I think its better to play search, the pressure of only one life keeps you in focus. Also, spraying just gets you noticed more easily in search, so it helps keep you from doing a rambo.

Hey man, thanks. I checked out the video and it was well put together but I personally disagree with turning aim assist off. With consoles, aim assist isn't about being lazy, it's there because console controllers, unlike a mouse, have very little precision so they need it. Also, in my mind you want to practice with the same tools/settings you play with. Aim assist changes a lot and I think instead of trying to practice without it, you should learn how to use it to your benefit while practicing.

The damage drop off on the pistols is too high to keep things consistent. At close range some pistols kill in 2 shots and at long range sometimes 5-7 shots. That's way to much of a variety when you're trying to make every bullet count. It would become more about trying to keep gunfights close rather than just focusing on your aim.

Bots move and behave differently than people. Also, you wouldn't be aiming for headshots in a typical gunfight. I find it's best to keep your practice as close to what you'd expect when you play normally. If you're playing headshots only, you're teaching yourself to go for those headshots every gunfight and this isn't ideal.
