Most people miss that Roger was Alonzos training officer.... when they were at the house having a drink, Alonzo said to Roger: you think Hoyt can do undercover? and Roger said: you were just like him, trying to save the day. plus you don't tell random people where you are stashing a pile of money under the floor.

Even with Jake being the moral center of this film, it's also amazing how criminals like Roger and Smiley also manage somehow come across as likable compared to Alonzo! lol
@noelramirez155116 күн бұрын
Yeah, because, like Smiley said, Alonzo has no honor; if he had been in Smiley's position, he would've still killed Jake in the tub. The only thing I didn't like about Smiley finding out Jake saved his cousin was that it would've been better if Smiley witnessed him doing it because Jake is a cop; that's what he's supposed to do. The visual of Jake going out of his way to save her shows he's more than just another cop; it shows he's actually a good person and is actually trying to make a difference.

I love Marian's perception skills and his masculine instincts. He clicked the situation before it got really bad and immediately knew how seriously in danger Jake was when Alonzo asked him to kill Roger. His great instincts were shown when Alonzo offered Jake the money snd Marian said "But they dont trust you!" Alot of people (correctly) understand that Alonzo is trying to rope Jake in so he cant tell on them but they often miss the simplicity of male groups/hunting groups and how all members need to buy in to the groups agenda or there is a dangerous breach of trust.

Every-day people in the U.S. needed guns later in history than in Europe because it was a wild and lawless frontier area. Europe was "civilized" for a long time, so the only people who really needed guns were soldiers and law enforcement, but in the Americas the diffuse population needed guns to hunt food and to protect themselves from large predatory wildlife and from rampant outlaws. Then, while America was still largely frontier, there was the war of independence which taught many that they also needed guns to protect themselves from their own government -- so much so that they wrote the right to own weapons into their new constitution.
@PaulWinkleАй бұрын
Still you need an army to get things done, in the war of independence just like in the civil war. The right to bear arms was ment within "a well regulated Militia" (nowadays called national guard). Good luck with your AR-15 semi-automatic against a M-16 or drones or tanks and so on! Washington aka Ronald Reagan already got you, he regulated the ownership of fully automatics heavily, you know the guy with the "make america great again" slogan, the original.

I am an American who was originally from the north where guns are illegal except under certain circumstances, who now lives in the south where guns are legal. Russia, Cuba, North Korea and others have banned guns and look at the history of what they've done to their people. The UK, Canada and Australia have become more communistic and imposed brutal lockdowns and brutalized protesters during "COVID." They wanted to do that here but were afraid to because of an armed population. Lastly, there is more crime t in states where guns are illegal because criminals don't care about legal firearms.
