Only in proportion though, at least in bodybuilding terms. Just look at racing drivers. Nothing special physique wise in most areas but their fucking necks are thicker than most people's thighs, but I guess being in a moving sauna pulling 5G+ for hours on end while slamming 150kg of pressure on the brake pedal every corner will do that to a person. I believe in training each major forearm separately and also using forearm heavy variations of exercises that do not traditionally tax the forearm. I do hammer curls, wrist curls and extensions, a little bit of pronation and supination with the dumbbell, plate curls and also plate upright rows where the grip gives out well before the shoulder. Gripping is isometric work; it's better than nothing but it does not take the muscles through much ROM at all and it's mostly about the flexor.

Don't neglect tib raises if you run or do any sports. It helps absorb some of the shock through ankle flexion when you pound the pavement. Unfortunately, grip strength training doesn’t target many of the muscles that contribute the most to forearm bulk and strength. Grip exercises primarily target the flexors of the digits, especially flexor digitorum superficialis and flexor pollucis longus. However, large muscles in both the medial and lateral aspects of the volar side of the forearm do not participate in grip exercise, because they don’t cross the MCP or interphangeal joints. Rather, they are elbow flexors (e.g., brachioradialis), pronation and abduction of the wrist (e.g., pronator teres), and, especially, wrist flexion (flexor carpi radialis & flexor carpi ulnaris).

@baxt14122 жыл бұрын
He mentioned forearm flexion exercises and everyone is already doing varying angles of elbow flexion in their regular pulling
@mattp4222 жыл бұрын
@@baxt1412 Elbow flexion is not very useful for targeting the brachioradialis unless the forearm is in pronation (palm facing away from you), like reverse curls or hammer curls. And pronator teres is primarily a pronator of the forearm and wrist. Try holding a dumbbell all the way at one end with your palm face up while seated. The longer, heavier end of the dumbbell should be tilted somewhat past the horizontal, tilting towards the floor, trying to force your wrist into external rotation, driving your thumb towards the floor. Then in a controlled manner, pronate the wrist, bringing the dumbbell to the vertical. Return to starting position. That would be one rep. And FCR and FCU are *wrist* flexors, not elbow flexors. They’re targeted with wrist curls.
@ButtmanAtHeart2 жыл бұрын
this sounds good in theory but don’t you think this would have been mentioned in the video? When you close your grip do you not see your forearm muscles flexing? I already have big forearms so let me tell you that yes, i can see the muscles in my forearm flex when i close my grip. based on that i think youre opinion on grip training is wrong.
