I like this guy because he doesn't make you feel like a wimp or a pussy for not knowing or how to train to failure. I'm still having trouble and I just started and I've seen people ahead of me struggle too.

I thought I knew what failure was until I did a 50 rep rest pause squat set with 135 (max squat was only about 350 at the time). I collapsed just as I racked the bar and woke up to staff and gym members around me. I couldn’t stand up and my vision was completely grey and brown with spots and I had horrible chest pain. I had to go to the hospital for extreme exhaustion, hypertensive crisis and a mild heart arrhythmia. Couldn’t walk for a week. Thought I was dying. Great fun. Edit: I was also addicted to heroin at the time, so there’s that…

I’ve had similar experiences with the squat too. Everybody loves to squat until they have to do stupidly high reps with embarrassing amounts of weight. It sounds crazy to people who haven’t done it before, but it freaking works

Nobody breaks down mind muscle connection like Dr Mike. A lot of these other guys just throw the term around I think because it’s popular but very few explain exactly what you should be feeling. Seth Feroce is probably the only other person I watch that stresses getting that connection.

The problem is that most people do not know what 5 reps to failure actually is. We are talking true, true failure; the type of failure Mike here is talking about So to say 5 reps to failure grows muscle, you're right. But to say to someone do 5 reps to failure you'll see that a fair majority of the time their 5 reps to failure is more like 7 and above

If you do 10 reps the same speed, it means the first 7 were useless cause you gave half effort...

If training to failure isn't that complicated, why can't Dr. Mike demonstrate it. I mean, he can make HOURS of video obfuscating what it is. But he can't do it. Every study shows bar speed slowdown at failure. Every one. There is no concentric cap and the muscles don't 'hit failure without hitting failure'. If bar speed didn't slow, you didn't hit failure. Every study shows this. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Or doesn't the science matter anymore? All he can do is talk in circles to bullshit people. And then spend an hour lying about me rather than just stepping up to me like a MAN would. Absolutely pathetic. Mike, get Dave to take you through a workout to true failure. Maybe you'll learn something. Or....just keep bs'ing people. It's what your best at.
