Indeed! Frank used small amounts of steroids & kept himself in very good shape all year long. He didn't bulk up to 300 pounds in the off season like the bodybuilders do today. By not stretching his stomach and putting on fat, he was able to have superb conditioning on contest day. Only Dorian Yates was able to match Zane's conditioning.

My favorite body builder/physique of all time. Being an ectomorph myself, I always admired how he turned lack of genetic mass into out of this world detail in definition. I always think about how Zane might approach a movement when I'm at the gym.

Frank Zane had the ultimate aesthetic proportions of all time - he stayed in amazing shape until ~65. Now at 78 its pretty sobering to see what the undefeatable sword of time does to the best of the best. Mike Hearn is like a peak human; at 52 he is in better shape than all but a few dozen living humans under the age of 30. I wonder what he thinks of the inevitability of ageing affects on musculature after this training session with the legendary Frank Zane - where he will be in 25 years. In the end, time conquers all; but its best to go down fighting.
