On this week’s episode of the Escape Your Limits Podcast, we sat down with a biomechanist and inventor who specializes in the study of human movement and locomotion. With his 20 plus years of expertise in the industry, he has in-depth knowledge of the feet in relation to athletic performance, and the natural human function of locomotive abilities.
David Weck is the CEO and Founder of BOSU Fitness where his inventions focus on building the rotational, pulsing, and coiling abilities of the athlete.
We had the opportunity to visit him at his WeckMethod Lab in San Diego where he spills his plethora of knowledge to us about:
• The exponential difference of being coiled versus being stiff/braced when working out
• His opinion about traditional power moves that are overused and disadvantageous
• And why the fitness community isn’t supporting his methods

Legend at marketing. His ideas are nothing new at all. Pretty sure that he’s watched uk martial artist Steve Morris and read his blog about training methods.

His legacy will be ropeflow, not Bosu ball. Ropeflow looks silly but it makes you incredibly agile and athletic if you commit to it.

@@strengthandpower101 By teaching you correct athletic body mechanics, by powering movement from coiling core, spinal motion, using correct weight distribution over a single foot at a time, amongst many other things. It's very helpful in increasing both speed and power in movement by improving body mechanics.

The bosu ball is cool. You can do a few tricks with it. But when it comes to stability training, a Swiss ball is ten times better

just, a tidbit, maybe it will help you in your training. the bosu ball isnt intended to be for stability training. and not designed to be round side down. It is designed to train the lower extremities to receive compressive and elastic forces. if you press your feet into it as hard as you can, you'll start to see. all the best

Sure....try punching someone in the head with the punch hand formation that Weck recommends. You'll probably dislocate your fingers.

Swiss balls are great, the bosu ball is designed to train something different. many people use it wrong, its not for stability training, and definitely not to be used round side down. It is designed to train the lower extremities to receive compressive and elastic forces. if you press your feet into it as hard as you can, you'll start to see. all the best

Love David Weck, fitness genius.....however, he is incorrect about the Fist and punching. This is not how metacarpals get broken. Boxers fractures occur because of ROUNDED punches landing so that the force is traveling through the metacarpals at an angle, and in his description of longitudinal force, and this breaks the metacarpals by force moving against the metacarpals laterally, not linearly. This is the reason why 99% of bare knuckle old school punches were STRAIGHT LINE punches, impact forces then travel linearly down the metacarpals. this weird, unnatural fist is not correct.
