Trains at Preston - 08/08/2024

Filmed on 08/08/2024. So, for another outing and for the first of two stations of the day. The heartland of Lancashire, the gateway for Cumbria, Lakes, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Scotland, London and of course to Yorkshire. An interesting session at Preston (Season 11 Episode 16)
Firstly, there was travel chaos in Manchester and Blackpool. Due to trespassing incident between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport, Northern and Transpennine Express had to cap their services at either Bolton, Manchester Oxford Road and even Manchester Piccadilly. Also, with the apparent riot situation in Blackpool which lead to delayed Northern services.
Its out with the old and in with the new for Avanti West Coast as we see the first of what will become many class 805's with one example on test between London Euston and Preston arriving in some 35 minutes early. Also, the first of the class 807's have also been on test between Merchant Park and Darlington which is the new 7 carriage variation. These will phase out all of the class 221 Super Voyagers which will soon end up being with Cross Country Trains to boost compacity.
