Some great footage of a long lost piece of railway operations. The pilot busying itself positioning the ipswich TPO in the former bay & the 31s on the Crewe TPOs, great footage.

Remember meeting the TPO as it was travelling south coming out of Edinburgh heading down the WCML.

I loved these days Darren when we had spare locos, and I got a great buzz when I collected stock like the GUVs and BGs .

Having a variety of loco types and then those locos(and stock)in a variety of liveries made the late 80s to late 90s a great era Mike.

Can I put the link to this on my layouts Facebook page, so people can get ideas for modelling parcels trains, and the shunting involved?

Another great video. Much appreciated. Out of interest wonder how many BG etc a 2 car DMU could pull.

Would love to go back to days of proper parcel trains, loco+bg+guvs+bg, or loco + bg + TPO+ bg, always wondered though, what were the courier vehicles used for as never saw them in use, and only saw two preserved ones

I think they were for valuable goods that needed to be guarded.

Interesting addition of a BG to the DMU as a tail load, something that I thought had gone out in the 1960s. (because Daisy didn't like pulling.)

Excellent video! Great for modelling those parcel trains and shunting them into different formations. Was one of those DMUs a passenger one with the Royal Mail logo on the side? It seemed as if there were two parcel units with a passenger unit. Love seeing the Metro Train and WMPTE logos on the DMUs! Quite a way from their home territory! Interesting there weren't many Royal Mail -liveried coaches- I think they came later in the early 90s? On my N gauge, my Express Parcel class 101 hauls my two Lima CCTs - they're the only things which stay together when running!

Thanks very much. Yes, DMUs with Royal Mail, Parcels, Metro, and WMPTE logos back then, most likely cascaded from their area by second generation DMUs. I think the Royal Mail red stock came a little after this, certainly you'll see them in my 1990s Peterborough movies. Movies like this a helping me with my N Gauge layout consists too.
