My mind sometimes reads differently to what is written. Your KZbin headline 'Trains on a Wet Afternoon at Carlisle: Yellow test train on the goods lines' immediately morphed into 'Little yellow test train on the old goods line' which you may recognise as the cadence of the first line of 'The Green Eye of the Little Yellow God' by J Milton Hayes. I think I've mentioned how your out-of-station sequences help broaden my appreciation of Carlise Station and its environs. For example, in the Quail diagrams of the area, Upperby Junction and sidings are just straight lines. Similarly on the Railcam signal diagrams. Those sequences 'put flesh on these bare bones'. Don't stop including them.

Look on RTT - the test trains often appear on Wednesdays Thursdays and Sundays often starting at Derby RTC. reporting numbers are 1Qxx and description will say Test Train

No siding into the former Cowans Sheldon site - thats a retail park. The 'Newcastle Shunting Neck' is used daily in moving DMUs between platforms and the last time I saw any long train in was when West Coast stock was shunted via there to allow the Midland Pullman in to Platform 3.
