I was born in 1943 and thus fortunate enough to live through the end of the steam age in the USA and can say without a doubt, I've never seen an ugly steam engine, rail, tractor or automobile. If I win the lottery, I will spend at least a year in England just riding these marvels. Thank you.

Beautiful shots on a windy day. The setting and your lingering look around the bucolic background gives context to this lovely railway. Some great shots of the various assemblies of traction engines, cars and their caring keepers.

Good branch line practise there tender first from the Ivatt loco. 43119 was a regular on Harpenden to Hemel Midland Rd on the old Nickey Line. Its now a foot and cycle path.

Looking at the 15xx, there's a distinct USA tank vibe to it isn't there, the outside cylinders and Walschaerts valve gear, and the complete absence of a running plate... makes you wonder what else Hawksworth might have come up with if there hadn't been nationalisation

I believe it was seeing the S100's in use on SR metals that inspired Hawksworth with the 1500's design; very much a Swindonised USA Tank.

I would I have been today(7th august 2022)It would have been my first time to svr bit unfortunately my grandad had a heart attack luckily he’s ok but I can’t go now but I’ll be going later this year or next year
