"Its been a quiet episode so far" NEXT TURN PARTY SECEDES you jinxed it Also secession and civil war are completely different, in a secession a party will take all their territory, in a civil war several full stacks will spawn around Rome, but they will not take any territory for themselves. That explains the 1% chance of civil war but a party still secedes, because they are different events completely. Hope thats useful

''Roman conquest of Greece: or the other way around?'' The Romans were, originally, an agricultural society with many militaristic features. We have discovered this in previous episodes and time and again, our point is proven: either the Romans were fighting, or they were living their rustic lives. Rome started out small, eventually expanding throughout the ''boot'' of Italy and gradually engulfing the entire Mediterranean world. A very major step in this expansion was the incorporation of Greece. A rather important historical misconception must first be addressed. Greece did not exist in the Graeco-Roman period. Well, yes, it did exist geographically, but no such thing as ''the nation of Greece'' ever was, unlike today. Greece is a very isolated place with many geological features, such as mountains and passes. Greece was, essentially, a pseudo-identity forged by many separate city-states that, sometimes, decided to work together loosely. This untidy collection of alliances and cities made it relatively easy for Rome to ''divide et impera'', divide and conquer, their way into Greece. Upon their arrival, however, the Romans were marvelled by the splendour of the Greek culture and customs. The Roman poet Horace sums this up rather nicely: ''Graecia capta ferum victorem cepit et artes intulit agresti Latio.'' - Epistulae II.2, line 55 ''Once captured, Greece took captive her savage conqueror and brought her arts into rustic Latium.'' Yes, Rome had just conquered Greece and incorporated the Greek territories into provinces under Rome, but effectively, Greek culture overflowed Roman barbarianism. Historical sidenote: why were barbarians called barbarians? Because, of course, the Greeks and Romans and other -- in their own eyes -- cultured societies thought all foreign languages sounded like someone saying ''bar bar bar bar bar''. Rather dull and unsophisticated, no? So, how did the Greek culture influence Rome exactly? By introducing unexplored territory? Not quite. Greece was well-known to the Romans, who traced their heritage to the peoples of Troy. Because of the enmity between Troy and Greece, the Romans still felt bitter about Greeks. Romans even considered the Greeks feminine because of their baths and poetry and philosophy and, to a degree, approval of homosexuality. Ironically enough, then, nearly all of these traditionally Greek ''features'' were quickly adopted by the Roman elite. Even more so, because the Roman elite began speaking Greek. That's right, while most Romans talked Latin, the Roman elite spoke Greek. Thousands of personal tutors for Roman noblemen were imported from Greece and flooded the market. They brought with them philosophy -- Epicurianism and stoicism primarily -- and inspired entire poetical societies to start practising the better arts. The Romans still disapproved of the love between men, because the Romans kept to their masculine, militaristic way. The Romans were, undoubtedly, however, forever changed by the conquering of Greece. Unintended, probably, but changed nonetheless. Ultimately, the two ''superior'' cultures, whose languages did not include the name Barbara, fused together and had an everlasting impact on the world. Til next time! Let me know if you want me to cover anything specifically; suggestions are always welcome!

That about the Romans descending from the Trojans, as cool of a story as it was, was a national origin myth like the Jewish exodus from Egypt. The Etruscans said they also came from the Trojans, and it was the Etruscans who influenced the Romans and made them “Hellenised”.

Parties won’t die forever, a new party will form before your protected status will go away. Before the patch it was the highest gravitas general in your family that broke off, now it’s the highest gravitas in your faction (not family) or if you don’t have any non-family faction members, the game defaults to the next highest influence political faction and takes [their] highest non-family faction member. A non-family faction member is someone you can recruit as a faction politician that’s not in the family tree. Also the higher your imperium level the # of factions will survive. Since your imperium level is high enough you will effectively always have 3 rival parties in addition to your own. (Rome as a faction doesn’t exceed 4 total parties, including yours.) Basically doing controlled secessions is a good way to consolidate influence in the senate but it’s impossible to have 100% control as far as I can tell.
@johnnyd33876 жыл бұрын
Yes you can plan it so as a rival familys general will start a new party by keeping his gravitas higher than any of your family. Once the new party starts keep them sweet and avoid a civil war altogether. Really enjoying this game. Politics, when you die in Rome you really die.

I’m still so bummed that Carthage isn’t playable. I mean, this was a pretty cool point in history for them. The Magonids ruled as Kings, and Carthage was the super power of the Mediterranean. Only Syracuse truly opposed them. How cool would it be to fight out the Sicilian wars on Carthage’s side?? I just don’t get it

When a political party secedes the generals belonging to that party who have an army change faction no matter where they are, and the seceding party takes all of the territory that they own. So for example if a general in the house of licinia has a full stack then they take that full stack with them when they rebel wherever they are on the map and you lose the territories that are loyal to licinia.

Hey i know this is insanely late but for the future only use infantry generals in a PURLY SEIDGE DEFENSE force as infantry generals cant get away from a hard spot easily so for this campain only camiliuses army would have the infantry general as it is more useful in that situation all others though just go for cav generals

When you use Party Loyalty edict, isn't that loyalty to the party who controls that territory, and not "you" per se?

Hello Mr.Lionheart, Its been so long since i started to watch lots of video in this channel. Appreciated your work. I love this series and asking you to keep it up my friend. As i girl i enjoy a lot total war games :) I have a question to ask you. During battle when you are forming your troops with right click you can still see where you deployed them on the ground while you are deploying another troop near them. I mean that yellow mark stays when you movr another group. How do you do it ? I can not do it during my battles and wanted to know that trick. It is so useful so you can see where you led your troops and where the others can be deployed. Im sorry for writing too long but i dont know how to explain it since english is not my mother tongue. Thank you again for wonderful videos and good talking during recording. All the best for your future work! ❤

You can get rid of your party rivals for a while but sooner or later your own family members will split off to make their own political party. Hope that is helpful!
@felixandersen38156 жыл бұрын
Didn't he say that your family members can't create their own parties in the latest patch? I've heard that there will always be at least 2 opposing parties and that if you destroy one a random one will be created in its place. Don't know if that's true or not though
