Only parents who have lost children really understand it, although each one of us responds in a different way. Me, I try to be ok with never really being ok again. When the sadness hits me, I let it. I am grateful for my tears, it means that I love. Bless you, Nathan

Well said! My dad worked as a supermarket cleaner until he retired and his stories of everything that used to go down on the shift always made me laugh so much... the huddle to get their instructions each morning, kicking out Tesco spies trying to undercut prices (he worked for Asda), chasing a huge rat... it always sounded the best fun to me as a kid and not the dirty grind every day it probably was. Nothing but love n respect for all my working people out there 💪❤❤

I think this song means so much to us older guys 40+ as it brings back memory’s of a time when dads never actually said they loved you but the little moments like sitting on your dads lap steering the car around an empty car park or being allowed to help build something with them was priceless. I’d look up at my dad and think god your amazing and even though it was never said out loud you just knew this man would move heaven and earth for you.

That's a really bizarre thing to say. Fathers (well the decent ones anyway) have always told their children that they love them. It's probably one of the most base and simple things you can say to your children, so no, I don't think there has ever been a 'time when dads never actually said they loved you'. There's something massively wrong with a parent who can't bring themselves to tell their own child that they love them.

Sometimes when i was a bit older and he was working nearby i took my bicycle and rode to him after school and he let me steer and operate all by myself. Man what a great memorys. This song came out the week after my dad died in a bike accident. I cry my bloody eyes out every single time I hear it. Work, walking, post office, absolutely kills me everytime because its so bloody perfect. Its like the guy watched my relationship with him I only knew him until I was 16 and it was the best years of my life until I had my own son he now has a big yellow digger and a toolbox to sit on whilst I work in the garage. It's all a never ending circle.

@@ammmmmm937 Love to you bud ♥️ Stay strong, remember to make your old man proud 👍. Don't let his passing beat you up mate, use that awful situation to make you a tougher stronger person. My dad actually survived a life threatening brain tumor 7 years prior to his death when I was 16. It's not the same for everyone I know but I look at it as 'shit happens' it's a blunt brutal way of looking at it but in it's stripped down form it does and we have to ride the waves however big they may seem. I remember playing this song for my Dad a couple of months before he suddenly passed away as the song always reminded me of him. He wasn’t a JCB driver but he had a van job where he would have one big drop off and he would always sneak me and my brother on the journey if it was somewhere by the sea. Have so many fond memories of having little adventures and viewing my Dad as the coolest man in the world for driving the ‘big van’. I remember him crying through the song as the lyrics really resonated, im so glad I have that fond memory of my Dad and I got to tell him how much I admired him thanks to this song.
